1. He claims he still hasn’t managed to delete the pictures of the Sochi GPF banquet from his phone because even catching sight of them generates so much embarrassment and anger that he has to swipe away as fast as he can.

If we’re talking individually, though he will of course never admit to it now, it is a well-known fact in the Russian scene that Yuri is unfortunately one of the many, many, many victims of young Viktor’s stardom. The first of Viktor’s programs that got him really flustered, four years old and blushing and starry-eyed, was The Swan.

Milla Babicheva. 18yo. Yurio and Popovich’s rinkmate. A cheerful and lively person who has fun teasing Yurio. She gets on well with Sara and is ranked third in the world.

A beautiful and strong Russian girl! Despite her beauty, she has a well-trained body that can easily lift Yurio. Having also advanced to the GPF this season and watched Otabek there, she was captivated by his skating.

Victor did continue to push a bit too much even after figuring out that yuuri was... not extremely receptive (his actions throughout ep 2 are totally understandable once we get the reveal :p, but when yuuri DOESN’T react as enthusiastically as he (reasonably) expected, after a point he should have dialled it down). technically it’s not super great that he kissed yuuri ON INTERNATIONAL LIVE TV 10 minutes after Yuuri said no to a kiss.

... they’re kinda FAST, once it gets started. and I don’t believe for a second that Victor has had any long-lasting stable relationship before either. so uhm. do your ganbatte, babies.

ok I love it as-is but the first change that would make me love it even more would be, of course, to make it about Ladies’ Singles ice skating. (please direct all Actual Yuri On Ice recs to my inbox, there’s surprisingly little???)

a little more Yurio? There was a weird lack of him mid-series.

Either Otabek or Phichit for GPF bronze

It does work and it’s justified by Yuuri’s personality and anxiety/self-esteem, but the second half feels very… arf. girouette. one step forward two steps back? I’m thinking of Yuri going from “I want everyone to hate me for taking Victor away” to “I can’t keep Victor away from skating”, from “two grandiloquent requests for you to stay my coach” to “I’m retiring”, like… every other episode. Eps 11/12 were particularly bad with this, it felt like a gratuitous scare over something that seemed to be a long-resolved non-issue by then (but we do see why Yuuri worries about that again in ep 11), it was frustrating and I felt like that was the weakest point of the writing overall. So, ehhh… more linearity and long-term build-up in the conflict? Or really amp up even more that this is solely a problem because of Yuuri’s anxiety and it will always be a concern of his, and communicate more about it.

This doesn’t necessarily have to be a change it could be the Season 2 things: focus on Victor’s depression/career fatigue re: competing. (I do love how Victor’s PoV was handled throughout the series, though.)
