2018 art goals/State of Sketchworks
After a *dismal* year, it's time to pick myself up and get back to drawing board.
Comics: keep drawing Only Human. My goal is to self publish this 5 page story. That's it. I could possibly do more, but I want to keep this year's goals a bit more restrained.
Art: more finished art. One a month at least.
Art styles: explore more styles besides my comic book/comic strip style. My wife has suggested more cutesy art, which I surprisingly do ok at. I also started a NSFW Tumblr which I might also try to get into.
Store: get the store back online. I don't have sales or product goals.
Social Media: Instagram continues to be where its at. I'm tempted to take a break from updating Facebook or Tumblr as often since it doesn't amount to much. Make these more like portfolio sites with finished art. Continue to interact with artists and followers on Instagram, since Tumblr and Facebook are dead-zones.
Side projects: I'm eliminating nearly all my side projects for now. I would live to have a weekly video series on Youtube, have downloadable tutorials on Gumroad, and two comics updating weekly. But its not going to happen.
Art Reference: try to organize my art reference library before I start adding more to it.
Overall, Sketchworks, the multimedia, self-publishing company, as I envisioned it, is dead as far as 2018 is concerned. I've been stressing myself out trying to make what I had into something I didn't have the time or resources for. So time to give up. I'm mostly going to be drawing for fun and not profit.
