On the third day of our Kazakhstan trip, my mom and I visited Shymbulak Ski Resort and Medeu Skating Rink.

We took a ride using Yandex Go from our hotel to get there.

Once we arrived, we bought tickets for the cable car and made our way up. The skating rink was quite crowded, but the atmosphere was lively and full of energy.

A small note

Most of the photos I have been sharing lately are of my mom. This trip is a collection of memories with her, and I want to hold on to them for a long time.

Шамони-Мон-Блан.

Шамони – один из старейших европейских курортов. Расположен во Франции, в неширокой долине между горными вершинами Альп, среди которых – величественный Монблан высотой 4807 м. Шамони вполне можно назвать центром мирового альпинизма, здесь проходили Зимние Олимпийские игры в 1924 году. Коммуна Шамони, растянувшаяся на 16 км, издавна считается важным центром зимних видов спорта Французских Альп.

Выглядит Шамони как типичный альпийский городок – старинные дома из камня, мощеные улочки, напоминающие о богатой истории курорта. Однако множество современных построек – отелей, ресторанов, магазинов – говорит о развитой инфраструктуре и современности курорта.

Отдыхающие на Шамони могут посетить 200 магазинов, любой из 87 ресторанов, которые предлагают самую разнообразную кухню, есть рестораны, расположенные высоко в горах, бары, кафе, ночные клубы и дискотеки, казино. Одним из старейших ресторанов в Шамони является Caleche. В нем собрана уникальная коллекция этнографических экспонатов – тут есть карета и древняя медная ванна, альпинистское снаряжение, лыжи и обувь, и множество колокольчиков, которые традиционно одевали на шею коровам.

В летний период в Шамони тоже достаточно много туристов, это отличает его от многих горнолыжных курортов. Уникальные панорамные виды Альпийских гор влекут в Шамони романтиков, а для спортсменов это отличное место для занятий альпинизмом, пеших прогулок или гонок на горных велосипедах.

Chamonix-Mont Blanc.

Chamonix is one of the oldest European resorts. It is located in France, in a narrow valley between the mountain peaks of the Alps, among which is the majestic Mont Blanc with a height of 4,807 m. Chamonix can be called the center of world mountaineering, it hosted the Winter Olympic Games in 1924. The municipality of Chamonix, stretching for 16 km, has long been considered an important winter sports center of the French Alps.

Chamonix looks like a typical Alpine town – old stone houses, cobbled streets, reminiscent of the rich history of the resort. However, many modern buildings – hotels, restaurants, shops – indicate the developed infrastructure and modernity of the resort.

Vacationers in Chamonix can visit 200 shops, any of the 87 restaurants that offer a wide variety of cuisine, there are restaurants located high in the mountains, bars, cafes, nightclubs and discos, casinos. One of the oldest restaurants in Chamonix is Caleche. It has a unique collection of ethnographic exhibits – there is a carriage and an ancient copper bathtub, climbing equipment, skis and shoes, and many bells that were traditionally worn around the neck of cows.

There are also quite a lot of tourists in Chamonix in the summer, which distinguishes it from many ski resorts. The unique panoramic views of the Alpine Mountains attract romantics to Chamonix, and for athletes it is a great place for mountaineering, hiking or mountain bike racing.
