success in adulting: ongoing
- First day of new job, got there on time, found everybody I needed to find, have a to-do list and instead of ordering lab coats and pagers and business cards someone is ordering those things for ME.
- finished the first few of many, many online training modules for the new job today.
- paid utilities.
- asked some more benefit questions. the rest of this year might be tight. but who has two thumbs and doesn’t care? imagine there is a selfie here I am too tired to take one :P tomorrow maybe.
it was a really good day. it is amazingly less patronizing and micromanage-y, I have a phone that is not always ringing and a computer that is not constantly freezing up, and I am just so much happier already it is unreal. I’m sure it won’t last, it’ll be like, December and I will be grouching about the temperature in the room and all the stuff I have to try and get done while everyone is on vacation, but at the same time there will not be people spying on me to make sure I’m not online Christmas shopping during my breaks or bitching when the horrendous traffic from the Nicollet Mall reconstruction plus black ice means I miss my train. They’ll trust me to get work done and that makes it a lot easier to do it.
Tomorrow: bloodborne pathogens! SAEs! and happy hour. let’s hear it for job satisfaction.
(the stock market however can eat a dick. what the fuck, Dow Jones. What the fuck. that’s me retiring at 71 instead of 70....:P :P :P)
Gophers Beat Iowa!
The Minnesota Gopher Men's basketball team defeated Iowa 95-89 tonight. It's always a good day when we can beat our rivals, Iowa and Wisconsin. The Gopher's really needed this win and they were able to pull off an upset against the No.19 Iowa Hawkeyes. Austin Hollin's led the Gophers with a career high 27 point game. It was a fun and exciting game to watch. SKI-U-MAH.
"The Bigs" - episode five of "Raise the Barn." Let's Go Gophers!
