what kind of music would effy listen to, say if skins was set in 2020? do you think the year they were in at the time influenced their hobbies and stuff, since they didnt have as much access to technology like we do now?
I mean, Effy likes 50s rock and roll. It’s not really a thing that’s influenced by trends in 2009 or that’s because she didn’t have access to other music because technology wasn’t what it is now (and technology was in a lot of ways pretty similar- by 2007 we already had iPhones, Twitter, Tumblr, Spotify, Facebook and YouTube). I think the Skins’ kids lack of technology use is less related to what was available to them and more that it’s just really hard to integrate technology/social media into a show without it feeling forced (Skam is the only show I’ve seen that does a good job of that). As far as “modern musicians” go, though, I do think she’d like Caro Emerald, since she takes inspiration from one of Effy’s favorites, Billie Holliday.
