Hey guys i finally posted after 100 years/j

I posted an art piece a few months ago of my MonsterVerse kaiju oc named ❤️‍🔥Thermo❤️‍🔥

Well that old drawing is completely out-dated now because i have made a new one with a slightly different design (mainly the colors though)

Instead of being an unpleasant color mash of green, red, yellow, and beige

He has a pretty consistent color palette of multiple Reds, Oranges, Beiges/Greys, and a dash of blue

"The Skull Devil Hungers" An oldie for sure but one I'm proud of which was my Ramarak digitally colored image I did during the Monsterverse watch along. Still one of my favorite pieces from before but that background still needs an update cause oof. Other than that hope you enjoy it.

I jumped on the “Monsterverse Gijinkas” bandwagon! Designs belong to me, ancient kaiju artwork (and the design on Ghidorah’s shield) based on the Monarch Sciences website and the end credits for Godzilla: King of the Monsters (except Ramarak’s).

I sorted them by “Protector” Titans (Godzilla, Mothra and Kong) and their corresponding “Destroyer” Titans (Ghidorah, Rodan and “Ramarak”/the Alpha Skullcrawler). I gave each of their designs a cultural basis that fits the region they’re associated with in the films. Design details under the cut!

Godzilla=A samurai, as he originated in Japan. His armor, as you can see, has features modeled after his body - specifically, the spikes on his helmet representing his dorsal fins. His sword is meant to act as the substitute for his atomic breath (though I’m sure he still HAS said breath); think of it as a lightsaber made of radiation. He also still has a tail, because I couldn’t not give him one.

Mothra=A Chinese empress, as her temple is located in China and she’s royalty. Obviously, her sleeves represent her wings and her main outfit represents her abdomen, while her hair tie is her antennae. She almost certainly has several poison-tipped daggers hidden in those sleeves, btw--Rodan learned that the hard way. I like to think she can form spectral wings on her back when she flies (though whether she needs said spectral wings for flight or just uses them for convenience is unclear).

Kong=An indigenous New Zealand warrior; I chose New Zealand due to Skull Island being a Pacific Island and also as a slight in-joke as the 2005 King Kong film was filmed on New Zealand. The reason he’s so small and scrawny is because, in Kong: Skull Island it’s mentioned that he’s the kaiju equivalent of a teenager at the time of his introduction (roughly 14-years-old if you translated his age to that of a human). By the time of Godzilla vs. Kong, he’ll be an adult and have bulked up considerably.

Ghidorah=A Greek warrior due to his being the inspiration for Hydra myths, though I perceive his gijinka form as being an alien, hence why he has yellow, scaly skin and two spectral faces (inspired by this image). The faces were the best way I could think of to naturally integrate the whole “three-headed” thing into his design without disposing of Ni and Kevin (who are now basically characters in their own right) or going for “conjoined triplets”/vanilla triplets; I wanted to go for something more supernatural and alien than just “three blond dudes” or “conjoined siblings”. I also like to think of him as kind of a vampire, seeing as he has the ability to drain/absorb energy, which makes the cape (modeled after his wings) all the more fitting. And yes, Ghidorah has arms. They’re currently hidden by his cape and shield, but he has them.

Rodan=An Aztec Eagle Warrior. The (fictional) Mexican island he’s shown living on is in the right location to have been at least adjacent to Aztec culture and I specifically drew inspiration from the eagle warriors for reasons that should be obvious. Like Mothra, he forms spectral wings around his arms when he flies, though no one is sure if they are physical necessities for him or if he just does it to look cool. I’m thinking of changing his design from here on out so that his feathers are physically attached to his arms rather than strapped to them.

Ramarak=Same as Kong, but I based him more off a hunter and added a mask to represent the skull-like face. The ponytail obviously represents his actual tail and he has a tooth from one of Kong’s parents on a necklace around his neck (creepy jerk). He’s the only one with no actual cave/wall artwork so I had to improvise with that one.

Overall, I picture them less as “human versions of monsters” and more as “gods” of some kind. They have supernatural powers and stuff, they can change size, either becoming human sized (or fairy-sized in Mothra’s case) or growing to be taller than skyscrapers, and they can even transform into their kaiju forms--their most powerful forms and possibly their “true” forms--though this takes a LOT out of them and they end up having to recharge after they change back (hence, they only do it as a last resort).
