If you're still interested in mash ups of your fics, I thought mixing Follow in Your Footsteps with Straight On Til Morning would be fascinating.

You mean, soulbonds in a Star Trek universe? That sounds... pretty cool, actually. I’d read it. I feel like in Star Trek your soulmate’s name wouldn’t be something you’d had on your skin all your life, though; I feel like it’s the kind of thing where the ship encounters a weird space anomaly or omnipotent alien being and, surprise, you all have soulmates now! Like, that seems like the way Star Trek would do that plot.

(I am not entirely sure that Star Trek HASN’T done that plot, but, then, there are several series that I have not watched most of. Like, you could tell me that happened on Enterprise and I’d tell you, okay, that sounds legit. I... really did not watch a lot of Enterprise.)

I've just finished mainlining the entirely of daemorphing and it was so awesome! I love how you've managed to improve on both worlds in your crossover. I really loved how you used the Iskroot in your story, they were such a good idea and pretty much discarded in canon as comic relief.

The Iskoort mean a lot to me because they’re like utopian fiction for Yeerks. They represent these powerful aspirations of the best that Yeerks could be, if things were different. 

Except that I don’t agree with K.A. about the best Yeerks can be. She envisioned the Iskoort as symbiotes. Symbiosis is a biological process, a matter of necessity. There’s nothing utopian or moving about my relationship with my gut bacteria. I can’t survive without them, but that’s just a function of my evolutionary history and my diet. 

To me it’s much more meaningful if the Iskoort are the product of cooperation and allyship between free agents who are not compelled by biology to cohabit, but rather arrived there by mutual understanding and fighting prejudice and finding a better way.

Anyway, Dæmorphing ain’t over yet – I’m more than halfway through the draft of the next fic, so stay tuned!

He deleted thousands of tweets. About five reference pedophillia. Don't quote nazis.

Maybe not all the tweets he deleted were bad, but a great deal were. And along with pedophilia jokes, he also made a lot of rape jokes. I DESPISE mike cernovich, he’s an absolute piece of shit and I hate the fact that he’s the one who dug up James Gunn’s tweets when he’s such a horrible person, but that’s a rant for a different day. The fact is, James Gunn tweeted those things and needs to face the consequences. I’m glad he’s apologized for them, and I believe he may deserve a second chance in the future, but as for right now he needs to be held accountable for his past actions and deal with the consequences. Regardless of who brought the tweets up, James Gunn’s tweets are his fault and his fault alone.

The problem is that they had someone argue with him, and Thanos won the argument. He told Gamora her planet was a paradise now he'd murdered everyone. That's telling, not showing, and it's telling Thanos he's right

Thanos thinks he’s right because he thinks it’s his destiny as he has a god complex. The very fact that in that scene he’s called insane, he’s called insane/mad several times in canon, heck, the fact that you replied here with ‘the problem’ shows that this is just a storytelling tactic. He has to think that way because it’s who his character is. We know he’s not right. Anyone ‘good’ knows he’s not right. The story didn’t have to spell it out. Thanos ‘won’ the argument because nothing is going to convince him he’s wrong. In fact, it really would have been painting him as ‘secretly a good guy’ or something if they showed him wavering on his views, and going ‘i may be wrong with what i’m doing but i just want to do good!’, but nah, he’s like ‘death is good it’s an honor people need to die to create balance this is my calling and im the only one in the universe with the strength and will to--’ ...etc etc blah blah blah.

I just wish people in general would stop acting like things have to be spelled out in every story or else it’s “bad” storytelling.

Faraday practically sags with relief at not having to explain himself for the umpteenth time that day. He’s not quite sure how Nate found out about his and DiMA’s unfortunate body switch, but he’s grateful for once that news travels so fast. Apparently the gossip grapevine had it’s uses.“I really appreciate this Nate. Problem is there’s technically nothing wrong with his legs, at least.. nothing more wrong than usual, and he gets around okay. I just struggle with the concept of having to plan where to put my.. his feet. Walking seems like such a simple thing until it isn’t.”Faraday allows himself a long, self indulgent sigh, pleased to share this with someone who would understand. He’d seen Nate’s work before and it was impressive. After reading some of your asks and thinking a bit more about the Iskroot got me wondering, how badly would everything go off the rails for the Empire if the Iskroot came to Earth before the Yeerks did?

Hah, I mean, I don’t exactly see a reason why the Iskoort would have gone to Earth at all, since they’re not a space empire. Garzh (which is what I call their planet in Dæmorphing since it doesn’t have a name in canon) is a trade center, much like Venice during the Renaissance, or like Singapore is today. Their status as a trade hub is enhanced by the Yoort, who are the ultimate translators and chameleons, able to broker deals between different people because they have direct experience with so many different minds. People go to Garzh to trade; the Iskoort don’t have much reason to go anywhere else. 

The other reason I have a hard time imagining the Iskoort getting to Earth before the Yeerk Empire is because of the Andalites. It is implied, though never stated, that the Andalites exert a great deal of control over who passes through this particular sector of the galaxy.

In The Andalite Chronicles, Elfangor meets Loren because the StarSword stops and boards the Skrit Na ship that kidnapped her and Chapman. Now we’re seeing all this from Elfangor’s perspective so he never stops to question it, but as readers, let’s take a look at this and ask: what right do the Andalites have to board a Skrit Na ship? What the hell gave them that authority? Why is it their business what a random ship passing through our solar system is doing there? The answer is that the Andalites made it their business, whether the Skrit Na liked it or not. Also: what the hell were the Andalites doing on the Yeerk and Hork-Bajir homeworlds? They definitely didn’t ask either of those species for permission to just up and build a base on their planets. Conclusion: the Andalites have decided unilaterally that they are the Official Space Police for our sector of the galaxy (much like the United States has decided unilaterally that it is the Official World Police for Freedom.)

Ax believes that the Andalites fight the Yeerks because of their collective guilt for giving Yeerks technology, but the truth is that the Andalites were active military interventionists in affairs that had nothing to do with them before the Yeerk Empire ever got started. So I think if some kind of exploratory Iskoort mission ever got to our solar system, the Andalites probably would have stuck their hooves into that business before humans ever got wind of it. And that probably would have gone horribly badly, knowing Andalites. They would hate knowing there was some society out there that was more advanced than theirs and accepted all kinds of species and ways of life.

(apparently I rp now, woot) Nate looks down at the little birb. He must have heard about it because he starts to laugh. The light flashes off the very polished, very shiny symbol of Atom he's wearing on his coat.

DiMA flattens his crest indignantly, albeit with a twinkle in his birds eye. As shiny and cute as that might be though it pales in comparison to the glow of that symbol on Nate’s coat.. a strange change comes over him, whatever he’d been thinking about before fades to the background as he fixates on that one glittering point, beady eyed.“Present for pretty bird?” He asks, doing his best to be cute while not so subtly coveting the shiny prize.
