It hurt Helga, to see Torstein so broken. Though it helped her forget about her own pain, to take care of him. It was already late, they were both exhausted from their travels and work from the previous days. But it was at least pleasant to sit together. Have a drink in their new home as Angrboða slept peacefully in her bed. Be somewhat carefree for a little while.
It was rare for Helga to keep away or keep her hands off of Torstein, it helped her think. calmed her down. This was no diffrent. She was sat in his lap, her head on his shoulder. Eyes on her hands, playing with the laces of his armbraces. “Things will change from now on, Torstein. We’ll make new friends. We have a new home. A new beginning. Together.” Shortly Helga thought about the inkling she had been having for a few days now. But she couldn’t be too sure just yet. That was a thing for later. A memory briefly hurt her, but brought a happy thought as well. It wasn’t such a bad idea.
Helga looked up from her busy hands, which fell still for a moment. “Torstein, why don’t we get married? We’ll be there for eachother. Who knows us better than we do?” Her words paired with a gentle kiss to his cheek, her eyes just as soft as her touch. Helga had never been afraid to speak her mind with him. If he said no, she’d accept it. But she silently prayed that he would agree to her proposal.
