Sky Needle lifer burrows deep into the dirt, transforming grubs into oscillating drillbits, accompanied by a satisfying close mic’d field buzz churn. The Room40 release is more expansive, ranging from waves of undulating swells to collateral chiming and percussive delirium redolent of Angus MacClise’s wandering blastitudes.  Both releases, of course, are excellent.
