You know, reading skybound makes me think more about first contact au. If the autobots and decepticons had woken up earlier, I don't know about medieval, Roman and Renaissance period ... people would consider them knights, Mythological beings. Spicers wonder product Skybond, whether printed or mounted, will deliver fantastic results.

Skybond is one of the leading brands of composite panel across Europe. Spicers saw the opportunity to bring the range to Australia and have been successful at selling and distributing the product nationally.

“Skybond really is a premium product,” comments Chris Lewis-Williams, National Sales Manager Sign and Display – Consumables. “It’s painted twice, which gives it an exceptional print surface so digital print works brilliantly and gives a vivid finish.”

A high quality aluminium composite panel, Skybond is comprised of a three-layer structure. The top and bottom layers are covered with an aluminium sheet and the centre core is low density polyethylene.

Rodney Shephard, Area Manager at Spicers Townsville, has overseen sales of Skybond skyrocket in his Northern Queensland hub. And he is not surprised by its surge in popularity.

“If you break it down, Skybond is an incredible product,” observes Rodney. “Lightweight with plastic in the middle, it’s strong and sturdy as well as insulated. The old steel products were cumbersome and floppy – it wasn’t as easy to print on or to display. Imagine being up a ladder with a 4m long bit of steel, if you drop it, it’d have someone’s leg off. Skybond is a much safer material.”

As such, the sky is just the beginning of the limit for applications of this amazing product. It’s suitable for printed applications such as feature walls and designer walls, as well as signage, advertisements, shop fronts, furniture, ceilings, showrooms, exhibition booths and other industrial purposes. It’s also commonly used at point-of-sale and in landscaping.

Thanks to the popularity of the product, Skybond is stocked in a variety of grades and colours and comes in two versions, Skybond Print and the new Skybond Mount. Developed with a specially formulated polyester paint, Skybond Print offers the best possible printing surface and can be easily cut, bent or folded.

Alternatively, Skybond Mount has been made specifically as a mounting board for self-adhesive prints and cut vinyl. Skybond Mount comes in a gloss white/matt finish and a gloss white/prime finish, meaning it is only painted on one side.

“I can’t speak highly enough of the product. We just placed the largest order for Skybond ever in Australia and we are wholly confident of placing it all,” says Rodney. “Customers love the convenience of us having it here. Skybond on demand with next day delivery to places like Mackay and Cairns is almost unheard of for a product like this.”

Chris Lewis-Williams agrees. “Our logistics footprint in Australia is second to none,” he concludes. “And that can’t be underestimated with a product like Skybond. It’s imperative that it is transported correctly. With nine warehouses and experience with transporting difficult to move products like this one, and to get it to customers quickly in sound condition, we have an advantage.”

Spicers Sign and Display product Skybond is enjoying exponential success in sunny North Queensland.

Skybond, a direct printable aluminium composite board, has been very well-received with customers, thanks to its high quality and competitive price.

“When we originally started stocking Skybond, no-one really knew what it was,” comments Rodney Shephard, Area Manager at Spicers Townsville branch. “It was our aim to get it recognised as a great, reliable product in the local market. We’re really pleased we have achieved that.”

A locally owned business for over 40 years, it is one of the largest sign and safety companies in North Queensland.
