The two (Sevigny and Stewart) are divine actresses and slowly build up the dangerous tug-of-war that necessarily developed between the two women. And, most importantly, in the film’s climatic and most important scenes, both bare it all—literally and figuratively—in an imagined but plausible series of shocking scenes that both execute to perfection.

OK, so once upon a time two things happened: one, Pete Wentz existed, and two, Gerard Way decided to start a band to save the world I'm not kidding. So Gerard gets his younger brother and a group of guys so hardcore they can play while broken or accidentally on fire and does just that. And while they're at it, Gerard and his guitarist Frank are the pioneering members of the middle finger brand of stagegay and lo, it was good for us all. Meanwhile, Pete Wentz grows up in age if not in actual maturity and becomes the bassist and front man of this band called Fall Out Boy and Pete has the biggest crush in the entire history of the world seen from space on his best friend, lead singer, possibly a unicorn Patrick and probs writes fic about them on the internet under a sock I'm not kidding. Pete probably also has a thing with Mikey from My Chemical Romance and he definitely has pictures of his dick leaked on the internet and if you're in bandom for two seconds you've seen it I'm sorry. Pete builds himself an empire and meanwhile Gabe Saporta has a vision of a snake in a desert and decides to start Cobra Starship. And there's also The Academy Is, Gym Class Heroes, and lots of other baby bands. And so Pete goes on to sign a teenage band called Panic at the Disco by means of their lead guitarist, lyricist, resident emo failboat Ryan Ross stalking Pete online and Panic is fronted by Brendon Urie, who can give Gerard a run for his money in terms of being the most flamboyant person in the history of everything ever and their drummer Spencer is flawless enough said. So Panic gets huge and Brendon flirts with Ryan on stage like it's going out of style. They acquire Jon Walker dressed up like a gay bible troup, and lo everyone is a weird and incestuous fandom family and it's a giant pile of fanboys, music, feelings, and sometimes stagegay. But it's not all sunshine and roses. Gerard hits rock bottom with alcoholism, Mikey has a mental breakdown, My Chem parts ways with their drummer Bob, Pete has a suicide attempt, and ultimately Fall Out Boy goes on hiatus, maybe forever, but don't tell a Fall Out Boy fan that or they'll cut you. Ryan and Jon leave Panic and then leave each other and it's really a hard time for everyone and I cried a lot. But things are good in bandom these days a lot of us have awesome ladies which are cool, My Chem has a new album, everyone in Fall Out Boy is very friendly and doing solo stuff, Jon has a beard, and Brendon and Spencer are married boyfriends going on tour with two of their awesome guys and I ship them like the fucking Spanish Armada the end. Bandom is awesome.

Miss Fisher's one of the easiest things for me to watch with my 'female gaze goggles' on. It's just all ladies all the time and they're all fantastic.

I think the difficulty is, it's possible to enjoy [Miss] Fisher on a very, very superficial level because of the clothes and the interesting social commentary and it hits all of these chart marks like, oh my god this is fucking stamped approved for social justice. But I think it's also very imperative to look at it...from the point of view that, 'Ooohhhh, the *only* reason she gets to do this is because she's a rich white lady. That's the only reason she can have this life.'

The reason that Miss Fisher herself is so great is that, I guess the point is she's done all this crazy shit in her life, she went through all of this garbage, and now she's filthy rich and she's like, 'You know what, fuck you. I'm gonna do what I want; I'm gonna wear what I want; I'm going to investigate crime while racing cars for kicks; and teaching other ladies how to become adventurers and race car drivers. I'm gonna sleep with whoever I want. I don't care what race they are; what language they speak. Like, no problem. Let's just have all of the sex.'
