It takes a while for Tommy to realize. Luda-May had said you went to town this morning, and that was what she genuinely believed — she hadn’t seen the note either. He goes on with his house chores, waiting patiently to hear the front-door open and your sweet voice call through the house for him.  That’s the part that breaks him; how normal everything had felt to him until he went down to the basement and just happened to see the folded paper in the chair you liked to sit in. Your pink sweater Luda-May knitted for you this past winter was still hanging on the back of it — Thomas spent hours sanding that chair so you wouldn’t get splinters.  He unfolds the paper carefully, large letters inked onto it reveal themselves. You know he has trouble reading, so you used words he would understand. “My sweet Tommy,” it started, and his heart dropped. “I love you, but I’m leaving.” The whimper that leaves him is horrific, he falls to the floor and re-reads the letters several times hoping he read it wrong, but he knows better. You spent the entire summer last year teaching him to read and you taught him good.  The grief is so large it hollows him out, he has to set the note down, so his tears don’t stain the little proof he has of your existence in his life.

Vincent Sinclair

Vincent doesn’t find the note immediately either, too busy at work to go searching for your absence. Usually, you’d be sitting with him while he works, but you had said yesterday you’d be busy, so he doesn’t ponder on it too long.  It’s midnight when he finds the note, folded neatly on top of the bed he was expecting to share with you tonight. Vincent reads it once, expression unreadable beneath his quiet stillness, but grief settles into him slowly — each word tears a new wound in his heart.  You even knew him well enough to leave several polaroids of yourself on your — his nightstand, all different angles with love notes written on the back of them. You knew he’d hole himself away and make sculpture after sculpture till he got your features right, so you figured you’d make it easy on him.  He never explains your absence to Bo, but he gets the hint. Vincent will never move what remains of your items. 

Bo Sinclair

Bo reads the note standing up — BIG mistake. By the second sentence, he’s pacing, trying to calm himself, but by the end of the note? He’s livid. He’s standing in your shared room, left hand dragging against his face as an irritated sigh leaves his lips. “What the hell is this?” He yells, eyes locked on to your mug from the night before as if it’s you.  He shakes his head then rereads it, jaw locked so tight it aches. Then again. Then one more time like maybe he misunderstood, because you don’t just leave. Not like that. Not after everything he’s done for you, not after building a whole goddamn life together.  He is quick to tear through the house looking anyway. The kitchen, bathroom, outside — Hell, even the chapel down the road because maybe you’re just hiding somewhere waiting for him to cool off and everything will be fine.  But eventually, reality settles ugly in his stomach. You’re gone and he can only pray on his knees you’ll come back.

Michael notices immediately, and not because he’s read the note, but because the house smells different.  He makes his way to your room and stands at the entrance for a little too long. He sees the note folded on the bed, but he can’t bring himself to go and read it. I mean, he already knows what it says, your room is nearly bare.  You’re gone, and the word settles strangely in his mind. He’s used to people being gone, he’s usually the one that makes them gone, but you aren’t supposed to be gone. You should be sleeping soundly in that little bed of yours like always.  He doesn’t understand why something that belonged beside him suddenly isn’t there anymore. You don’t get to decide when you’re gone, he does.  He will track you till the ends of the earth.

Slashers In The Mental Hospital With Their Favorite Tech (First HC In The Slasher Mental Hospital Series)

-Y/n works at a forensic mental hospital called Piney Ridge. The units are labeled by trees. The adolescent unit is called Magnolia. The psychotic adult women's unit is Willow. The psychotic adult male unit is Maple. The dangerous adult women's unit is Elm. Her unit is the dangerous adult male unit, which is Oak. She's the head tech.

-Y/n is a technician, which means she's with the patients for twelve hours a day. She started working there when she was 18, now she's 21. She used to work nights but the patients (the slashers) refused to sleep when she was around because she's so fricking cool that they wanted to talk to her the entire shift. So they switched her to day shift.

-Y/n is the only tech the slashers are receptive to. She's the only one they'll talk to.

-Y/n has a point system that she convinced the hospital to implement. Every day the slashers have the chance to earn twenty five points. They can earn those points in process group, therapist lead group, music group, on the unit during down time, in the dining hall during meals, in the court yard, and during room checks.

-They can save up those points for the point store, which sells different things. things like toiletries and skin care items that don't have to be specially ordered by a doctor. or stuffed animals, better blankets and pillows, sticker packs, activity books, fidget toys, more electronic time, etc. they can also have things specially ordered like clothes or better shoes, outside food, and if they have enough points, new furniture for their rooms like TVs and better desk chairs.

-Y/n also has a level system. They have to get approved by a tech, a nurse, a doctor, a therapist, and one of the hospital managers to move onto the next level. She had the level system implemented for all the units in the hospital. patients can have their levels demoted for bad behavior.

-level ones are just starting out, and they don't get any special privileges like the other levels. Level twos get hair cuts, more opportunities to earn points, and more outside time. Level threes get caffeinated coffee, innings (which means they get to spend time off the unit but have to stay in the hospital, and order outside food every weekend), and new clothes every month. Level fours get shaving privileges, and outings. Level fives are junior staff and get badges but not keys, meaning they can go places like the activity rooms and the dining hall and the courtyard whenever they want.

-Y/n is the only reason the slashers haven't killed each other. They're always on their best behavior for her. They're all in love with her someway or another. some of them are genuinely attracted to her, but others just admire her deeply.

-Bubba makes her flower crowns out of paper machet. he's really incredible at oragami, and loves making her paper roses and paper animals. She keeps all of them behind the nurse's station on the shelves.

-Brahms make her plastic masks. he specially orders different kinds of craft materials and packs of blank covid, masquerade, and party masks from the point store. he spends hours painting them, decorating them, making them everything he thinks she'd want. she hangs them up on her bedroom walls at her house.

-Billy Loomis and Stu Matcher curated a playlist for her. they compiled a massive five hundred song play list just for her, of all the songs they had heard her sing over the three years she's worked there. They got there in 1999, and she's been working there since 2024. They've heard millions of songs, but the songs she sings automatically become their favorite.

-Billy Lenz was a gooner. That's all he did. Just gooned and cries every day. But when Y/n came along, he actually came back to reality. He started taking his medication and became an entirely different person. He really got into video game making. He made a cozy farming simulator for Y/n when she mentioned playing stardew valley and minecraft a lot. Y/n plays that game religiously on her days off.

-Bo talks with her every chance he gets. He spends hours and hours just chatting with her. He doesn't even really flirt. He just genuinely enjoys her company. Bo's the only ones that get to sit at the tech table during group. He's never violent, never has breakdowns, is always very polite, and treats her and all the other staff with nothing but respect. He likes learning about Y/n's interests and loves listening to her rant. He engages and asks questions and does research so he can talk about her interests with her.

-Chucky makes her dolls. He had really gotten into making voodoo dolls. He made her a new doll every week. mainly cute ones like ball jointed dolls so they won't scare her. Like the masks Brahms makes for her, she puts them on her shelves in her bedroom.

-Jason and Michael watch over her. When any of the other patients have a break down and get violent, they guard her and refuse to let her do her job and perform a hold. Michael does the hold while Jason stands in front of her making sure she doesn't get hurt.

-Jackson has a very unhealthy obsession with Y/n. He clings to her and follows her around like a lost puppy. Even though he tries to play it cool, sometimes it gets to the point where he gets violent with other patients for talking to her, especially Bo. He used to trust Michael and Jason because he's relatively small and can't keep her safe like they could, but when they started flirting with her and showing off for her, he went back to feeling threatened by them. He writes fanfics about her and him and imagine the two of them being in a relationship all the time. He daydreams during group and scowls at Bo for getting to sit at the tech table. he has crying fits when she has to leave for the night because he hates every other tech except her.

-Patrick shows off. That's all he does. He works out in front of her like Michael and Jason do. He rants about himself, trying to make himself look better. He tries to force his interests onto her. That's the only way he knows how to communicate because of his psychopathy. Y/n humbles him quite often by telling him she has her own interests and doesn't care to share his.

-Vincent paints Y/n. she's his muse he sketches her in every angle and position he sees her in. She's also into art and is extremely talented at it. she doodles tornadoes, fruits and vegetables, different foods, and bedroom ideas, as well as a few other things. Vincent gives her tips on some of her art and she gives him tips on some of his art.

-Freddy visits her in her dreams. He makes them as pleasant as possible. he fights away her nightmares. he has picnics with her, walks through the park, cooks dream food, and does calming things with her in her dreams that always makes her feel better and more well rested in the morning.

-Y/n has a husband outside of work. They just recently had a baby. When she had to go on maternity leave, the unit dissolved into complete chaos. They were all stressed and frustrated. They were pissed when they found out she was married and just had a baby. But when she got back, and showed them pictures of the baby, they melted. Even Jackson, who had been the most angry out of all of them.

-overall, she's the best tech in the world, and no one could ever replace her.

Tommy is a big guy himself, especially in the arm department, so he can appreciate how much work and time goes into your muscles. He defiantly has some weights and gym equipment in the basement for when it’s too hot to work out outside or you don’t feel like leaving the house. It’s a lot darker and cooler down there so you don’t have to worry about passing out from the heat or getting sunburnt.

Tommy will make himself ‘Busy’ in the basement when you’re working out. In reality he’s just moving things around pointlessly in an attempt to look like he’s not ogling you from across the room.
