Ok so I know I could have answered this in the comments of the post but I wanted to go a bit more in depth with this and I haven’t really made a text post just for Draven’s universe!
So, fun fact about Slayer!Tale, Halloween actually is a holiday that came about as a way of warding off Demons! (I know, I like messing with the origins of holidays in most of my AUs, but it’s fun!)
People believed, in the past, that Demons could be warded off using carved gargoyles (Which later on became carved pumpkins). In the past, people would carve a warding symbol into these gargoyles. As to whether or not they worked, it’s up to speculation.
The costumes were a way of people hoping Demons wouldn’t recognize them as something to hunt. (Though Demons will hunt down anything with magic, they don’t care about what it looks like, but people didn’t know that). As for the handing out of treats, that came from communities sending their children off to collect gifts from their neighbors as a way of saying “We hope you won’t be hunted on this eve”. These gifts were typically talismans but slowly evolved into treats.
Now, as for the reason why people did this on one specific day of the year, this was because Demons used to be believed to spawn more frequently at different times in the year. This is semi-true, but not because of the time of year.
Demons respond to negativity! They’re attracted to it, and that’s because Demons actually enjoy feeding on tormented Souls. It gives them more strength. You may find some Demons even “playing with their food” before devouring someone’s Soul.
Demons will flock to areas with high amounts of negativity, and the days these holidays appeared used to be times where people were feeling a lot of negative emotions. Why this is has been lost to time, as these holidays soon developed into more cheerful celebrations, which did end up assisting in warding of Demons!
The city near the Demon’s Den, however, has an unusually high amount of negativity. Perhaps that’s because the people know they live next to a demon-infested forest. Despite this, people still celebrate Halloween, and the abnormally high spirits actually keep the city safer than normal.
Halloween is one of Draven’s days off, and even if he’s a bit of a sourpuss, he does keep candy in a bowl in his apartment for the off chance kids or teenagers come by. He’ll be damned if he ends up being the one ruining his day off by ruining some kid’s night.
It’s my boi, Draven~! I was lazy with the shading on this one, since I figured it was dark enough as is. Let’s do a little lore on this forest Draven is walking through!
The Demon’s Den
A forest cast in perpetual winter. Demons are said to spawn from this forest. No one who has entered the forest has ever returned. People say the forest is designed to trap anyone who enters. The Demon’s Den appears to be a large forest from the outside, however once entering, a person could not traverse it’s entire length. It seems the forest is far larger on the inside than it appears.
Draven currently is the only person who is able to navigate the forest without issue. A person could navigate the outer edges of the forest with few issues (though entering the forest at all is dangerous), but if they enter too far they should be considered a lost cause. Unless Draven finds them of course.
Various types of Demons spawn in The Demon’s Den, but the most common type is Hounds. Wolf-like demons which appear to be made entirely of shadow (as most demons appear to be). Often, Hounds will typically travel in packs of four or more, but some may travel alone.
Okay i got another question. This tjme. For whoever you feel like awsering it for.
If they had to describe themselfs as a natural disaster. Which and why
(So not what do you creater think describes best. But how would they choose/describe themselves.
Also my sibling came up with this question years ago. And I always really like hearing peoples answers on it)
Oh this is an interesting ask! I assume you're asking about Kingdomverse? but I'm also gonna answer for one of my other AUs! (Hope that's ok!) Oh, I'm also gonna ask in character for them, since they're describing themselves! (and I think it's fun)
Dream
"A disaster? Let me think... I think... a drought maybe. The sun is nice, and it's always a sign of beautiful weather, but one can get too much sun. Too much of a good thing can still be bad. Is that a good answer?" He gives a nervous smile.
Draven (From Slayer!Tale)
Draven looks slightly irritated. "Is this really an important question? Fine... I guess I'd be a wildfire or something. Out of control, eating up anything and everything in it's path. Nothin' left but ashes. That a good enough answer for you?"
@diofasolia Thank you for asking! Draven probably wouldn’t celebrate the holiday unless someone he’s close to convinces him, and most likely wouldn’t choose his costume on his own XD
(He thinks he’s scary enough as it is)
But if you manage to persuade him, he’ll probably dress up in something he doesn’t need to change his look too much for, so a Vampire is one of the more likely choices!
I drew Draven’s blade~! Should I have drawn it when I drew him? Maybe. Am I satisfied? Sorta. I may redesign it later, but for now, this is what it looks like!
HE’S HEEERRREEE
EDGY BOI
This is Draven! He belongs to my new AU: Slayer!Tale
Some lore and stuff under the cut!
Draven’s AU doesn’t at all follow the Undertale storyline actually! in his AU, Draven is on the surface hunting Demons to protect both humans and Monsters!
Demons are Monsters whos Souls have become tainted with Hate
Demons are able to absorb most magic attacks and turn that into power, making them much more difficult to kill
They’re also physically resistant to most weapons
Draven hunts them using a blade made of his own magic, which is concentrated enough that it can’t be absorbed and does lasting damage
Draven believes Demons are beyond saving, even if at their core they’re Monsters. They’ve gone insane from the Hate in their souls, making them bloodthirsty and magic hungry.
Demons actively try to eat humans or Monsters in order to absorb their Souls (They seem to have a preference for human Souls)
The more Souls and magic a Demon absorbs, the stronger it becomes
Given enough magic, Demons can “evolve” into bigger, badder forms that are twice as difficult to kill
Draven isolates himself from other Monsters “for their own safety”
Draven is callous and abrasive, but he won’t go out of his way to hurt someone’s feelings.
Let me know if you want to know more, I really like this boi!
