Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Groaning, you tried for the umpteenth time to wiggle free from the locks of rope tangled around your wrists when you heard someone shoot the door open, its hinges flying out as you turned your head to avoid the aftermath.
Standing there, in all his glory was your boyfriend. You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding, prepared for Randy to come in and drag you out to another location. But it was Luke. The one who would get you to safety. The one who you know won’t let you of his sight now no matter what. And you couldn’t have been more relieved to see that long limbed, strikingly blue eyed man come through that door.
“Y/N?” He questioned, rushing towards you as he cut the ropes off your ankles and wrists. Rubbing your bruised hands you jumped up and clung onto him like your life depended on it, which in this case was just the matter.
“Baby I am so sorry. I shouldn’t have even let you leave my flat in the first place, fuck tell me you’re fine?” He sputtered out, hands cupping your cheeks as you held onto his wrists, attempting to calm the tsunami of tears that were escaping your eyes.
“I’m okay, I’m okay.” You let out a small smile, reassuring him more than yourself.
He smiled back, but that disappeared just as quick when his eyes trailed down to your shoulder, blood still gushing out of the torn skin from where the blade of that knife sliced down.
You could see the rage, guilt, and disgust cross his eyes as he stared at your shoulder.
“Okay baby I’m fine just calm down, yeah?”
“I’m gonna fucking kill him.”
A gunshot was heard again, this time much more closer in proximity than the last one as you let out a squeal, feeling Luke’s fingers wrap around your waist, tugging you along with him to the exit of the door.
“We have to go. Just stay behind me okay?” You nodded as he interlaced your fingers together, running behind him as you both sprinted across what looked like an abandoned factory in the middle of a desert. Similar to a scene from Breaking Bad, jesus christ how fucked up were these people?
You saw multiple guys dressed in majority black, hiding behind cars, walls, engine tanks, all pointing their weapons at one another, releasing the trigger and hoping they would hit their target.
Luke pulled you in front of him as you both hid behind a dumpster, Michael and Ashton there as well. It was only then that you realized how outnumbered you really were. There were a few other guys where you two sat, but that was it. Randy had more guys, which meant he had more guns. You did not have the upper hand by any means right now and that just made your heart clench even further.
“Hey, you with me angel?” Luke’s demeanour instantly changed from harsh to soft within a second when he took in your fragile state. Tugging you closer by your hips, he pulled you into his side as you gave him a tiny nod, but he felt it. And that was enough for him to know that you were still there, with him.
Both Ashton and Michael shot you a sympathetic look, worry clear on their faces but masked with their game time personas, intimidating looks and daunting eyes piercing through anyone with a Rascals logo on their jacket.
“Where are the rest of the guys?” Your boyfriend bitterly spoke, Michael letting out a shrug as he aimed his gun around the side to shoot again.
“They said they were coming but they haven’t fucking showed up yet.” Ashton muttered, clearly just as agitated as Luke.
“It’s hard rounding up like 20 guys all of a sudden Luke.” Michael said, eyes darting left and right to watch the sides in case anyone popped up.
“Does it look like I give a shit about that? They should be here by now because we’re a team. We’re brothers.” You felt Luke’s grip tighten around you as you remembered Calum. Someone who was like a brother to him, and now he was going to be nothing more than a stranger in his eyes.
“Luke.” You whispered, still scared to death at the gunshots firing around you. “Calum.”
“What? Did you see him?” He asked, looking into your eyes. But as he stared within you, he realized what you meant. Your eyes were telling him, holding guilt and concern at what his reaction was going to be.
“What?” Ashton said, looking directly at Luke. “What do you mean?”
“He’s with them.“ Luke repeated, closing his eyes in frustration and hurt. “That fucking asshole sold us out.”
“He wouldn’t though.” Michael interrupted. “He’s our brother.”
“Was.” Luke spoke, “but not anymore.”
The stone cold look on his face made you regret even saying anything. But they had the right to know.
You wiped your eyes again as the shots continued. You knew they were getting close now, and you had to move.
“We can’t just stay here Luke we have to go.” You interrupted the boys and their disbelief over what you just told them. They would have to mourn in their own time but now was not the time or place for this conversation.
“We have to wait until the others show up. We’ll hold them off don’t worry angel.” He leaned down and kissed the side of your head as you heard shouts emerging from either sides of you, the everest green dumpster that smelled like rotten bananas and sulphur being the only thing that was protecting you right now.
“Well here they are!” Randy exclaimed, jumping on top of the lid, his entourage coming beside him and cornering all of you in a circle.
And lone behold, Calum walked right into the circle, pointing his gun directly at Luke, a look of pity and shame in his eyes.
You stared right at him, sickened by his mere presence. All those Christmases spent together, all the Thanksgiving dinners that you shared, they all meant nothing to him. You were repulsed at the thought of even having him in your home all those times.
Luke’s eyes bore right into him, Ashton and Michael both scoffing and shaking with anger themselves as they realized just what a traitor their ‘brother’ really was.
“I’m going to kill you.” Luke darkly said, sending a menacing glare at the man he once trusted with his life and more. You tightened your hold on Luke’s leather jacket, signalling him to control himself. Saying one little thing could end everything right now.
“Okay okay enough with the reunion.” Randy spoke, getting everyone’s attention back on him. “I missed you darling.” He pointed his gun at you, ushering one of his men to come and retrieve you from Luke’s grasp.
“Uh uh uh.” Randy said, making Luke lower his gun down. “Wouldn’t want to make that mistake now would you.”
He knew that if he moved to protect you even just an inch more, Randy would shoot you right then and there.
“You too boys.” He jumped off the dumpster while Ashton and Michael lowered their weapons too.
A man with a Mohawk came by your side and ripped you apart from Luke as he brought you over to Randy. Pushing you onto the ground beside him, your hair falling over your face, shielding you from the stare he had on you.
“She’s really pretty Lukey.” He pulled you up by your arm, digging his other hand into your shoulder as you let out a strangled scream, the rush of pain running through your entire left side of the body.
“Leave her alone and we’ll talk about this. It’s me you have the problem with, not her. She has nothing to do with this!” Luke couldn’t help but charge at him, infuriated with his actions as the Rascals held him back, holding his arms as he looked at you. And you could see in those eyes that Luke regretted even asking you out. For bringing you anywhere near this horrid world that he was a part of.
But he was selfish. He wanted you for himself. He knew that he would never find someone like you, so he tried. He tried to get you and he did. He won you and no matter what he says or does, you know that he’ll always be your home now. And he’ll always have a home with you.
“Is the money coming?” Randy growled, clearly annoyed by this whole exchange as he held your arm tighter.
“They’re bringing it right now.” Ashton spoke up, earning a nod from Michael to confirm his statement.
“You’re lying.” He spoke lowly, making your eyes widen in surprise. You knew they didn’t have the money. Luke’s eyes gave that away the moment Ashton uttered those words. “You would have brought it with you if you did.”
“It’s coming.” Luke gritted, casting a glance at you. It was now or never. All those practices you had with Luke in case of emergencies or threatening situations like this, Luke taught you a few things. A surge of adrenaline coursed through your body as you gave him a quick nod, kicking your leg backwards and hitting Randy right in the crotch and elbowing him in the face. With that cue, Luke pushed one of the guys off him, punching the other one as the gun flew out of his hand.
Chaos ensued as everyone started punching, shooting, and tackling the opposing gang members in a rush.
You ran towards the fallen gun, hoping you would grab it in time but you heard another gunshot go off.
Dropping to your knees, you felt the blood start to spill out of your side, an endless amount reaching infinity. Turning around you looked at Randy pointing his own gun right at you, smirk plastered on his face.
“Angel, can you here me?”
You could hear people shouting and screaming for you but you couldn’t recognize anything, your vision becoming a blur as more bodies seemed to drop around you.
Randy’s face fell flat onto the ground beside you, bullet hole right through his forehead.
It was then that you realized the rest of Luke’s gang showed up, knocking everyone out one by one.
And then you fell to the ground, the sand and dust particles making its way into your mouth, eyes, nose, everywhere.
But you felt that familiar touch. Those warms hands holding you in a sitting position as he held onto you, hoping for dear life that you were listening to him.
“Hey, you’re okay love. You’re okay. It’s not even that much blood. You’re gonna be fine. Please Y/N just stay with me.” Luke cried, turning your face towards him as you saw the water pour out of his blue irises.
You mustered up as much energy as you could to wipe a tear away, letting out a shaky breath in the process. Conveying that you were okay, and that he was going to be okay too, Luke leaned into your touch as he held your hand against his cheek.
“You’re gonna get better baby I promise. Just keep your eyes open. We’re gonna get help.” He attempted to lift you up but you knew it was no use. You could feel yourself slipping away, and all you wanted was to just look at Luke one last time, make him see that he shouldn’t blame himself for any of this. You knew what you signed up for, and you wouldn’t change a thing at all.
You stopped him, halting his actions as he looked at you, begging you to at least let him try.
“It’s okay. It’ll be okay.” You croaked out, going limp in his arms. “I love you.” And then everything went black.
“Y/N?” Luke whispered, the crack in his voice evident as he looked up at the rest of the boys who were staring at both of you, the wretched scene they were watching unfolding right before them, even Calum who was on the ground beside Michael squeezing his eyes shut at your lifeless body.
“Baby wake up! Open your eyes!” He shook you, hoping to see those enchanting eyes that he first fell for all those years ago staring right back at him. But they didn’t open. And he knew then, that he would never see them again.
“I love you.” He whispered, crying into your neck as he held you close. “I love you so much.” He buried his face further, kissing your jaw gently as he leaned up and placed a soft kiss on your now dull lips.
“I’m sorry.” He breathed out, hoping somewhere you were listening to him. Somewhere, maybe in a different lifetime, that your story would have ended differently.
