                                        ……AND WHEN THE PARTY IS OVER!

The last volunteers are still picking up tiny bits of colorful water balloons by the reservoir (and we imagine they will be for the next few days at least - y’know, if you fancy heading down to help out once you’ve recovered from partying the day away!). The party has long wound down on the main streets. Attendees will be dusting that pesky glitter out of their hair for days to come, but the memories made here will last a lifetime..

The Silver Lake Council Committee promised a great prize (in exchange for your mailing list details, address, phone number… whoa - lets not think too hard about that!). And they’re delighted to announce that the name pulled from the hat was AARON CONNORS ( @aaroncon ), you’ve only gone and won yourself a fully expenses paid weekend trip to Disneyland Park for yourself and a friend! Everyone else? Well, enjoy the daily email updates, and that page that says ‘content not found’ when you try unsubscribe!

This concludes our Pride Street Party event! We hope you’ve enjoyed yourselves, as have your characters! Here are a few bullet points of note to conclude with the ending of this event:

You are free to carry on writing your threads related to the event but please, do not post any new starters related to the event! Additionally, will be removing any event-related starters from the starter blog so new members joining us do not accidentally reply to those.

Winner of the event was picked by putting all of your submitted character names in a wheel of fortune. First name to come out won!

WATER BALLOON FIGHT!

Residents of Silver Lake! The first annual (we hope!) water balloon fight is about to commence! The meadow has been filled with buckets of balloons (and somehow, they keep coming from somewhere! Like, there's an endless amount of balloons. Nature lovers everywhere are going to have a field day with this one! ) 

5pm has hit! The parade has passed through, the sun is still a million degrees and it's time to cool off down by the meadows. 

The reservoir has been fenced off with an incredible amount of safety precautions taken, so no swimming please! You’ll get dragged out by security and then probably arrested (and definitely fined, that $200 Chuck gave you isn’t going far!).  

Maybe your character is feeling the Greta effect and they grab a clipboard from the petition stand because that is a lot of plastic waste.

Or maybe, your character is of a more devious nature. We noticed some full buckets of paint left over from a nearby arts & crafts stall, and someone is using paint to fill their balloons. Oh no. Spells Trouble. Messy, colorful trouble. 

If you’re one of the more responsible members of the Silver Lake community, and you want to stick around the meadows for an hour (or three, depending on how many people volunteer) to help with clean-up, maybe we’ll be a step closer to getting this re-approved next year!

On your way out, don’t miss the ice cream van, where you can grab both a towel to dry off and a rainbow ice lolly! Additionally, don’t forget to drop your details off by the gate, we hear there’s a prize for one lucky participant! **

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH SILVER LAKE...

Who doesn’t love a street party to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community? Starting from 10 A.M the whole of Silver Lake Boulevard (down by the reservoir and meadows!) will be closed off and taken over with an array of stalls. These will be  selling everything you can think of —personally, we especially love the rainbow waffles from Milk!—  from food to merchandise. All along the boulevard, the main day’s festivities will be going on all day long, old school, block party style. Once 3 P.M. hits, there will be a parade to follow around the outskirts of the reservoir, stopping at Silver Lake Meadows, where a water balloon fight has been set up ready to cool off from this LA heat. You won’t want to miss any of this!

OOC DETAILS

This event will last OOC from June 11th to June 19th at 11:59pm EST. If you wish, you may put your current threads on hold to focus on event threads, or do both at the same time.

Don’t forget to tag any event starters that you post and reblog to @slchat​ with #slstreetpride. This will make it easier for everyone to tell which starters are set at the event!

Feel free to have your character post about the party to our #slsocial tag! You may tag these posts with #slstreetpride as well.

There will be further information regarding a water balloon fight, and this info will be dropping on Tuesday. You may have your character mention this event, but please hold off on actually writing it before the drop!

After June 19, once the event has concluded, please do not post any new event starters. You are free to keep your event threads going after this date though.

IN CHARACTER DETAILS  

The Silver Lake Neighborhood Council and LGBTQ+ advisors panel present a Street Party package that they hope will offer something to everybody’s tastes! There will be three main events in two locations, and you’re naturally welcome to drop in and out if you have places to be.

PRIDE STREET PARTY FEATURES 

PARADE: Starting around 3 P.M., the main pride parade that begins in West Hollywood and flows through Sunset will be making its way to Silver Lake! You will see it coming in from Sunset Boulevard, where it will take a turn into Silver Lake Boulevard, to end at the meadows. You won’t want to miss these floats!

MAIN DANCEFLOOR: Though the party will be taking place all up and down Silver Lake Boulevard, here is where the dancing will be concentrated. A lineup of DJ’s will be keeping you busy all morning, afternoon and through the night with all the greatest Pride-themed hits and more! Come on over here to shake your booty and shake out the glitter in your hair.

STALLS: A list of stalls can be found below, but please feel free to come up with your own ones as long as they fit with the theme! 

WATER BALLOON FIGHT: information for this will be dropping on Tuesday and the Neighbourhood Council informed us that they require nothing else is said about this until that post drops! Let's not bother those folks by going against their wishes! **Please do not post starters about this until after Tuesdays post has been dropped**

MEMORABILIA STAND —Who doesn’t love to document the day with 2021 branded sunglasses, lanyards, pens, and new! For this year, reusable drinking bottles (we hear if you take these to any stand for a refill you get a 20% discount off the price of your drink!) 

PRIDE PHOTOGRAPH BINGO HUNT — A pride themed ‘egg’ hunt! Grab a map from the big purple stand outside the entrance for the reservoir,  find the items listed & take pictures. Submit completed maps back to the same stall to be entered into a prize draw!

RAFFLE — All money raised will be going to a mix of three LGBQT+ charities, dig deep, get lots of tickets, you’ve always wanted a blow up unicorn that barely fits through your front door. 

CHALK STREET TAG — Grab a free stick of chalk, find a blank spot, and add to the huge mural being drawn all the way down the street. Please keep it clean, this is a family friendly event! 

PETITION STAND — Check out the stand to offer your signature to a whole host of petitions that affect the LGBQT+ community! 

PHOTO BOOTH — A great way to commemorate your time here for years to come! 

PEACHTREE STALL — Come get all your 420 goodies from Silver Lake's favorite dispensary! Pride themed merch available, special limited edition strains and gummies, and more. 

BUBBLE MACHINE — This one was for the kids, but we hear the adults are having just as much fun as the little ones!

OBSTACLE COURSE — Ever wanted to be on Ninja Warrior? Well now is your chance, just smaller, much smaller, health and safety wouldn’t sign off on anything bigger! Our version is more blow up bouncy castle obstacle course! 

CLOTHING SWAP — sponsored by Funkytown Thrift. Come swap your old rags for new ones, and get a wardrobe update!

OOC Information: If you would like your character to receive a ‘love fortune’, drop the name (or names) of your characters in the replies! You have from now until the 19th February, 6PM GMT to do so!
