Underrated manga recommendation:
Slime Saint is the story of, well, a slime. They (She? I'll refer to the slime as she/they) are a typical RPG slime.
To skip over some stuff, they learn that they can essentially use the fact they are 90% just non-newtonian fluids to become humans by inhabiting corpses.
Dark, but it gemerally is interesting, because she emds up using the body of a noblewoman, Lady Jelly, a saintess, poisoned for the most obvious reasons imaginable.
Now, our newly-human slime both has to pretend to be a literal holy saint, despite her not even knowing that existed until 2 minutes ago, and stop anyone from figuring out she is a slime, or that they should, in fact, be dead in a ditch somewhere, and try to correct it.
Its actually really funny when the ball gets rolling, because Jelly is just SUCH a good character. Her design is amazing, their expressions are great, even the way she fakes holy powers is great.
There's also a ton of comedy to be had from how Jelly tries to indirectly get everyone to explain stuff to her. And, because its more slice-of-life/inter-personal drama, it actually works amazingly.
I still can't get over how @yenpress did manga license announcements on Friday, and that I got a shoujo license win from them!
There were also several exciting manga license announcements & updates overall last week, so let's dive in in my new video!
Manga Roundup: The next one
Today we have three manga to go over, linked by a common thread of being about cute neurodivergent girls. Turns out there are a lot of genre I don't normally read that become much more palatable with that sort of protagonist. And these manga feature no/minimal fanservice to boot.
Death's Daughter and the Ebony Blade- 9/10
Orphaned as a baby, Olivia ends up being found by Z, a god of death. He raises her the best he can, but one day he vanishes. Olivia ventures out into the world and ends up joining the military, where her talent of brutally massacring everyone who opposes her doesn't go unnoticed.
She ends up becoming a commander, and the manga mostly follows her adventures as she fights for the kingdom, and searches for answers about her origins.
Olivia is a delight, and I strongly believe she is supposed to be autistic. Her friends Claudia and Ashton are fun too.
The Apothecary Diaries- 10/10
This manga is just delightful. Maomao is a girl forced to work in the emperor's palace, and while she initially tries to maintain a low profile, her curiosity, wealth of medical knowledge, and hyper-fixation on poison get her into plenty of trouble.
She ends up under the wing of Jinshi, an influential eunuch who finds her eccentricities absolutely adorable. While Maomao does respect Jinshi, she might be one of the most staunchly ace characters I've ever read. Their dynamic is a lot of fun.
Overall, it plays out like a detective drama, with Maomao using her wit and curiosity to solve all sorts of mysteries.
Also, Mangadex got nuked 3/4 through my read-through so that was annoying.
Slime Saint- 8/10
A humble forest slime dreamed of being human, and one day, they stumble upon a fresh corpse to make their own. However, upon assuming the dead human's identity, she realizes that she was a saint so horrid, that she was assassinated.
A fun spin on the villainess genre. It focuses on Lady Jelly's attempts to rebuild her reputation and make friends, all while keeping her true nature a secret.
top three manga?
Hello Anon from January 26th this is not 4 months later, time is just wibbly wobbly
It's hard to pick a top 3! Like very hard!!! At the moment I'm going to pick the top 3 I currently love and are reading. I can't pick top 3 of all time!
(At least right now maybe I could at another time 🤔 I also have to log my reading better, I have some manga I've read written down and rated but some I don't. I need to update that list)
# 1 : Slime Saint / Slime Seijo
I love the story. It's so silly an fun. I love the main character. There's such funny moments and drawings in the manga which crack me up!
# 2 : Hanamonogatari
Old Woman Yuri 💯🫶💗🎉 And about makeup! I'm IN LOVE
# 3: With One Day Left I'll Break All the Destruction Flags: "Serves You Right!" RTA 24 Hour Record

Rupee Recommends Manga With A Very Specific Vibe I Like: Week 2
I'm back and despite everything I'm doing this weird thing again! Let's see what today's theme is:
Manga where the main character finds themself becoming/possessing someone else, someone who has done evil deeds that they now find they have to answer for even though the protagonist is a much nicer person
Slime Saint (silly fun in manga form! A humble slime monster finds out it can become human by turning itself into blood and inhabiting a dead body! Unfortunately the body that had been dumped in its forest was a sadistic little rich girl that should be the "healing saint" but instead tortures her servants for fun, which is probably how she ended up murdered! Can the slime survive much longer as her AND make sure no-one finds out she's not human?)
I Swapped Bodies With A Wicked Witch, But Today I'll Keep having Fun! (I like a good gentle romance sometimes, especially with a bit of added drama. A princess who cannot use the royal magic, or any magic at all, is locked away in a tower and told to study magic theory day and night until the day of her upcoming forced marriage to a powerful neighbouring country. She tries to stay positive in this prison until, on her wedding day, she suddenly finds herself in the body of someone else in a cottage in the woods! It turns out an angry witch who hated her own life cast a spell to marry a prince, so now the princess is free to use fun magic every day and live a quiet little life in nature! But why do the nearby villagers hate her so much?)
