not to be dramatic & gay but watching Flint & Silver’s story play out feels a lot like watching Romeo and Juliet. I don’t even really mean in a romantic way because their relationship is far more nuanced and complicated than that, too deep and complex to be confined to a single label or understanding. No, it’s more the knowing that they’re doomed, knowing that they won’t end together or even on the same side, knowing that something terrible is going to happen. But god you’re just rooting for them. they just complete each other, they’re two halves of one whole. Can one exist without the other? They’ve been through so much together, they’ve built so much together, they rely so heavily on each other. They love each other, in whatever capacity you wish to believe that love exists, they are close and seeing that happen, seeing that relationship develop through all the turmoil and all the destruction, seeing their closeness and tenderness develop through a war, and then knowing that despite all of that, it doesn’t end well..... It’s a fucking tragedy.

FLINT SILVER IS EVERYTHING TO ME god I just love them. And the tension between them is glorious. I like how you kind of see Silver fall under Flint’s persuasion like when he says “I believe he controls reality with his mind” because flint does! He has this crazy ability to make anybody see things the way he wants them too including Silver. And I love the angst and the tension of Silver coming to the realization that his end goal simply cannot align with Flint’s so they have to be at odds while co-parenting a rebellion. Their dynamic is so fascinating.

Thomas/Flint/Miranda I have less decided emotions about them as a unit. I think it’s clear James loves them and they have this really profound impact on his life but I don’t like personally care about them as a ship? They make for good television and great characters, the development and reveal was awesome and all that but Im not really obsessed with them tbh. I like them but when I’m not watching the show I dont think about them if that makes sense

I watched Sharkdate with my mom today and by the end we were joking about how that WAS a pretty good date.

Classic AUs

Work is “drive you crazy” slow so I’ve been thinking of other classic novels (besides Jane Eyre) that would make good AUs and which ones wouldn’t.

I would love to do a p♡rny Three Men In a Boat with Flint/Hamilton/Silver or Steve/Bucky/Sam but no one knows that book. But it’s short and adorable and I recommend it.

I’m a huge fan of The Great Gatsby but that’s not going to work since I want my OTP happy at the end. So Wuthering Heights is out too.

Although you might could make WH kind of work with Stucky if you didn’t want a hea or happy with an afterlife hea. Bucky as Heathcliff, Steve as Cathy. Peggy and Natasha as Edgar and Isabelle.

Sticking with a Bronte, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall could actually work for Silverflint. There’s a shameful back story (perceived in the au) that’s being hidden, a friend to lovers troupe and lots of secondary characters for the rest of the crew. But again does anyone know that story?

Rebecca would work for Silverflint or Stucky. Steve is the Heroine/Hero and Rebecca is not a person but Hydra. Or Silver is the Heroine/Hero and Thomas is Rebecca just not as much of a dick maybe it’s still the scandal but of other people’s making

I just joined this classic novel, tea and stationery subscription club (I know, right? amazing) so I’m determined to make an AU of whatever book shows up.

I would love to hear others people’s thoughts and ideas (anon is open). Or recs for existing Classic Novel AUs. but I understand and love all my silent, shy or indifferent or just can’t be bothered or not on tumblr right now followers or people in the tag anyway.
