In my previous post I mentioned that a scientists job is very hard one and is often overlooked especially in a country like Sri Lanka! I say this because if you are an independent scientist like me, doing good scientific research is not the only thing you need to think about. You need to think about your finances (how you are gonna fund your projects), management skills (we juggle more than 1 project), networking, administrative work, teaching responsibilities just to name a few. A career as a scientist is not very popular in Sri Lanka compared to doctor, lawyer, engineer. We work as much as them or harder. I enjoy working with people from various backgrounds/careers. It's unfortunate that people don't know how hard a scientist got to work! Sometimes I work 12/16 hours a day and 7 days a week. But it's ok cuz I enjoy it. It makes it all better when you love what you do! ❤ Keep following, you will know more about me and my life as a scientist. #lifeofascientist @global_mars @buffalostatealumni @buffalostate @bengalsabroad @buffalostateinternationals #TeamPassionLearning #slmars #marslove #marscreate #likeamartian #NASMintern16 #GSAOTFscholar #educator #sciencecommunicator #researcher #hardworker #adventurer #explorer #planetaryscientist #womaninstem #youngscientist #science #stem
