Mars - 10-3--2020 - Infrared Filter Around 19,000 frames taken with the ZWO ASI224MC ans using an Astronomik ProPlanet 642 BP IR filter. This truly is my favorite filter to use, especially now with a camera more sensitive to IR. This image is from taking four videos amd peocessikf amd joining them in PIPP, then stacking in AutoStakkert!3 and finally adjusting wavelets, color and orientation in Registax. Obviously, the red channel blossoms with the use of a 642 IR filter, so adjusting that channel has some interesting effects, as well as forcing the image into black and white. This picture is from an old blog post which was taken during the #globalmarsweekend program. This was my view from the window. If you look close you will see how calm the seas are. Today 13 years ago it wasn't so. Sri Lanka is one of the countries that were badly effected by the Tsunami where many lost their lives. It was devastating. @global_mars pilot is initiated in a district that was badly effected by the #2004Tsunami. I miss being surrounded by planetary scientists! I miss interning at the @smithsonian @airandspacemuseum. In a recent article I mentioned I am the only planetary scientist based in Sri Lanka with my "specific" research and education/outreach interest. This was not to be boastful in what so ever way but to let people know how lonely it is to be here in this field of science. If you are wondering what this picture is, This is an an Asteroid that is believed to have come from the Asteroid Belt. How did I find this??? One morning somebody decided to walk around @airandspacemuseum with this and they let me take a picture with it! I was a shy kid growing up. I think I still am. With time I realized that it's important I put my self out there. It's important I take the science out. It's important people know what we do as scientists and what I do as a scientist. I never did science for attention,fame or giltz, glamour. I am happy to do what I LOVE to do and share it with all of you! I got a lot of positive comments as well as negative comments. Positive comments are very encouraging. Thank you for the all the love and support. And negative comments......... I take them as constructive. Even if it looks like destructive at first, I still take it as constructive.
