Nightmare Chara hmm... the name is kinda fit for the au, but uhh... why is theknife that big? Is it magic? Or its normal size but the child is too tiny?

No you’re right the knife is strangely big. Cause I think it’s just really cool haha. 

I have a headcanon that being in the dreamworld, the way their reality is effected by magic and intent can be kind of... fluid? 

I imagine that Chara is sort of... in tune with the knife and has power over their weapon the more they use it? They can change the size of their weapon to their advantage. The more LV they gain, the stronger and more variations on their attacks they can make. Therefore even the toy knife they find in the ruins at the start becomes a real knife because that is their intent.

So I guess it’s a kind of magic? It’s a combination of things: their intent, having access to Frisk’s determination, the power they gain from doing violence and their connection to the dreamworld as they descend into becoming a Nightmare.

So I have been wondering how chara could have gotten in Slumbertale. Since they hate humanity did they just wanted to end it all but just got in a coma instead?

I have this headcanon that Chara didn’t have a very good childhood. They suffered from a disorder where they compulsively ate flowers. One day they fell very ill from eatingbuttercups and found themself with a second chance in the Dream Realm.

Because the souls of humans have power/connection to the dream realm, the meaning of yellow flowers changed. The flowers could have the same effect in this dream reality as they did on Chara in life. So Asriel and Chara used that in their plan to try free the monsters.
