This is Andrew MiddleName Shank/ij

He’s a bastard child and an animal tamer in a rag tag group of totally-just-circus-performers-and-not-at-ALL-anything-illegal circus trope, which me and @/folieadeu-x have, for the time being, dubbed as the ‘Slurcus’

He’s a flirt and a pickpocket and generally is a nuisance to society, though means well underneath all of that and is just doing the best with the cards he has been given

Best way I can describe him in TAOCC terms is Astrion, but French-American, and circus, and with a pinch of ‘where is the Justice’ from the Death Note Music

And I adore him

I’ve had him for almost 6? Years now

And his involvement with things from an everyday man handling a shitty deck of cards to a criminal circus member has been nothing but entertaining all 6 of those years

Thats the TL;DR of him anyways

There’s a LOT more going on, but we can save that conversation for another day ;]

Oh my god NEW CHARACTER YIPPEEEEE

She's a fan oc for @/foliadeu-x's Slurcus- a burlesque performer, to be exact. She does a lot of stuff in and on an aerial bubble, but the highlights of their performances always end with her dropping down into a huge cocktail glass or clear bowl or something else along those lines, always full of water. They have a lot of fun in the water!

I guess before I go too in depth I should explain what the Slurcus is

Spearheaded by my good technically not my brother brother @/folieadeu-x, the Slurcus is a sitcom-esque story about a gang of French circus performers and what their lives are like

While it is circus-based, I’m primarily responsible for all the important side characters/background characters (with the exception of Andrew who is our defacto protagonist)

Alright let’s tackle this in order

Jules “JD” Desrosiers - The bartender

JD is pretty much the “hidden jack of all trades” trope. Owner of the generational bar ‘The Alibi’, JD works as both a bartender and a neutral groundskeeper for illegal activity. Make illegal deals? Trade dirty secrets? Plan a heist? He’ll turn a blind eye to it all and act like an alibi if need be as long as there’s no blatant threatening or violence on his bar’s property. If you dare test that, safe to say you’ll be on a ton of gang members bad sides. No one messes with JD or the sanctity of the alibi. No one.

Fun facts

- He has like 30 (noncanon) wives and husbands because everyone who I show him to wants to marry him

- despite not being in the circus, his grandpa was friends with the founder (NOT Miya if you’re looking on AF), so JD learned knife throwing and arial hoop from the circus growing up

- his mother was a nurse so he has more medical training than most :D

Romeo - The Devotee

Romeo is the 2nd in command to a rival gang and is desperately holding on to a long lost relationship with the leader that has fizzled out and become toxic after he managed to get Romeo to join him. Imma be honest, he’s the least developed of the characters so far

Fun facts

- he was an affluent model before being part of a gang

- he has a crippling drug problem because of his toxic relationship

- ironically he’s very afraid of actually hurting people; he’ll make empty threats like there’s no tomorrow, but actually pull a trigger? No way

Andrew Shank - The Animal Tamer

I’ve already talked about him before so here are some fun facts I didn’t list

- Andrew's snake in all his cirus refs is named Cleo and Andrew 100% treats it like his own child :} you dont like Cleo? Andrew doesnt like you (exceptions for if you're scared of Cleo; then Andrew will either torment you with her or try to do things to show you they're not harmful)

- He's one of three siblings :D (so far. that we know of. listen his bio dad is kind of a user so this man could have a sibling in every country by now). His other two siblings are Mariko (part of a different story entirely) and Celio (The rival gang leader and Romeo's toxic not-a-boyfriend-but-still-strings-romeo-along boyfriend)

- Occasionally, he'll let his situationship do his makeup :} Those nights instead of broken hearts, they're full hearts <3

Chad - The Floridian.

Chad is Chad. There’s no way around it. Originally from Florida, after his parents died and he spent time in the foster care system, his aunt and uncle (who lived in France) adopted him mostly because they felt guilty is they didn’t not because they actually cared for him. While in France, Chad had some car trouble and took it to a local auto shop ran by another Circus Founder Friend. While waiting for repairs, Chad would strike up a conversation with the owner’s son and much to the other’s chagrin, they formed an acquaintanceship….then a friendship….then a close friendship….maybe it was more than a friend— look it doesn’t matter. What matters now is that Chad is dead and gone. He died in an accident and thats all that matters. Let’s not linger on him.

Fun facts

- he was created completely as a joke while I was visiting Melly and we were listening to ‘Show Stopping Number’ from ‘The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals’ in the car

- it’s rare for him to take off his sunglasses. Even indoors.

- Alongside with The guy who didnt like musicals, he's highly based on the love interest from 'Dr. Horrible's sing along blog'
