What's an aspect of evolving artificial intelligence you'd like to see included in more fiction about robots?

I’d like to see altruism seen through the eyes of a robot more. The closest example I can think of is Baymax from Big Hero 6, probably one of my favorite robot characters. He performs his role as a caretaker, helping Hiro both physically and emotionally, but his reasons for doing so are based on computer logic- he gives him a reassuring hug not because he “feels bad” for Hiro, but because he is programmed to help those in distress, and downloaded a database on suffering loss and determined that reassurance had a higher percentage of success. This sort of thing might be seen as coldly literal, but it honestly makes Baymax more endearing as a character.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’d like to see robots’ robot nature, rather than their human nature, explored more.

The republicans definitely didn’t pick trump. Their voters did. The establishment tried everything they could to stop Trump being the nomination, but voters went for him as an outsider and protest cannidate, just like Bernie was for the democrats. He rise was due to the average registered republican feeling very unsatisfied with Washington DC’s current state (approval rating for congress as a whole was like … the mid 20s).

Ah fair nuff then,so it’s the radicalization of the supporters themselves then?Figures.

Again good luck with you guys.I can’t vote so the least I could do is wonder about those underlying questions I guess

I know them as puppy-spiders

I follow http://hexapodkittens.tumblr.com/ who (used to - they’re taking a break for now because of other demands on their time in the form of a wee chirp-beast) keep mantises, but also had a brief stint with some jumping spiders. They also called them puppies. I can’t say either one of you is at all wrong. 

Precious puppy spiders, bless their wandering little faces. 

but if people dont want to call them puppies, they could alternatively call them cuban pete.

For me, is those vicariously embarrassing moments that I just want to end.

Oh my heck, slywit, second-hand embarrassment is such a powerful force. I'm one of those people that will pause a movie and leave the room a dozen times a minute when something like that is happening, unless there's someone else there to stop me. 

Surprisingly this is something easier for me to write than it is for me to see someone else create. Maybe its something to do with knowing that I'm not shaming a character for messing up when I do it, but when a lot of media does it, it's presented as the end of the world. Way to play on anxieties, media!

That's such an understandable hangup for writing though.

Aaa thank you for sharing, slywit! You're so thoughtful. This is also super interesting, and without the added "oh my god I know its just a demo/gif but I'm WORRIED FOR THAT MAN'S LIFE" every time it loops, laughs.
