Well, at least we're beating the "Jannik only likes Carlos when he wins" allegations ig 😭😭
new ig story.
i made it through the meetings that i was most anxious about this week and yes i started breaking out in cold sweat in the middle of both of them but hey, i got through them with my sanity intact
Made birthday cake for my niece and did some last min shopping before I start work all before 12!
managed to make it through whatever that was without hurting myself once!!
i don’t know what is best, but i just wanted to say you’re very talented and i love your etsy shop and the joy it brings. throwing out some questions that i hope are helpful to think about:
re: your art: do you find creating your art and working on the etsy shop to be fulfilling? while it may be challenging, is it also joyful work and do you consider it worth the time and effort? do you think it will be sustainable to maintain longer-time, and how would you plan to make it sustainable?
re: 9-5 job: would the 9-5 job change your ability to make your own art completely? is the 9-5 job work you’d enjoy doing? if yes, what if you countered and asked to work there part-time only to allow time to balance your art and this job? if no, what are the benefits of this job in particular that you’d still consider it? because there will always be 9-5 jobs out there if you end up needing one, but there’s only one you
also to be clear you don’t have to answer these questions here, i just sometimes like someone outside of a situation to come in and throw out things to consider that may help come to a decision
Anon I love you so much for sending this
For my art shop, I can’t even begin to tell you how much THAT is my dream rn. To scale it up in 2026 to make real income would genuinely honest to god be the dream situation. I just know that’s such a huge risk but god do I want it. I love making listings and packing orders and even social media (hello, YouTube!) im not sure how to make it sustainable but my hope is to try and tackle that next year, IF I have the free time and headspace to do it. That’s part of what I’m scared about, if I take the 9-5 it’s not that I won’t have time, I just know what it will do to my mental health. And If I’m struggling to feel motivated to care then what happens to the shop? It’s not that I would throw it away, it would just shrivel instead of thrive.
For the job, no it’s not my ideal type of graphic design job. I could easily walk away from being a graphic designer if I had some other way to afford to live. I love designing but the corporate environment just fills me with anxiety (am I doing enough, if I miss a deadline is it okay or will that be a strike against me, even if I design something good it can still be wrong bc creativity is subjective, etc) But when they first asked to hire me in September I asked if I could be part time and they said no. I will ask again trust and believe, but I have zero expectations to get a different answer.
In an ideal world the new job could bring me on part time and I get to have the best of both worlds but that’s not realistic.
