Finn Balor Interview: On SummerSlam, Baron Corbin, baby oil, Brock Lesna...
I haven’t seen many people talking about this interview with Gorilla Position, but when Finn says that he would love to get the kind of reaction that Roman gets from the crowd, I think it’s very telling. It speaks to that great divide between what a fan knows and what a wrestler knows.
Yesterday, I saw some Roman haters insist yet again that Vince is trying to get the crowd to cheer for Roman when he appears with The Shield. And I replied, yet again, Vince doesn’t care if you cheer for Roman. He cares that you react to him. This assumption that it has to be cheers is a fantasy concocted by fanboys who think they know how the business works.
Roman fans and Roman haters can argue for days, weeks, months and years about Roman’s talent, position in the company, his gear, his everything. But as long as we’re talking about him, Vince sees dollar signs. And when countless wrestlers praise Roman, whether they’re currently in the company, formerly employed by the company, or never been employed by the company, they know the type of reaction Roman gets isn’t a bad thing. It may be a confusing thing, but it’s certainly not a bad thing.
This is a pretty interesting interview with Finn, although a bit awkward at times. I’d watch the whole thing if you’re a Balor fan, but if you’re only interested in the Roman vs Lesnar commentary, just click play.
