This stream of consciousness has branches?

He had known this was a bad idea before he did it. That happened quite often actually, him doing things while knowing they were a bad idea. Yet there was something inside his head telling him that doing rash and stupid things was how people got friends and Draco was fed up with feeling lonely.

Though he didn't know why exactly he felt that way.

But anyway, he knew provoking the griffin was a bad idea. So he shouldn't be surprised when the beast responded badly to his insult. However he definitely hadn’t expected it to suddenly take flight and take Draco along for the ride. Claws on his shoulders as if he was some sort of prey.

Draco grabbed the griffin's feet, afraid it would drop him to his death, but the skin on its toes and ankles was too smooth and he couldn't get a good grip at all. So when that horrid beast made a sharp turn over the lake, Draco couldn't hold on any longer and fell. The impact of the water paralyzed the teen for a long moment and by the time he got his brain and body to cooperate once more, he had sank so deep that he couldn't see his surroundings anymore.

Normally he should be grabbing for his wand to perform a bubble-head charm. Supposedly only sixth years and up could perform that spell, but from the moment Draco had read about it he felt compelled to master it. Seeing as he was particularly good at charms, he succeeded as well. The compulsion came from the same part of his mind that kept convincing him that rash decisions were smart, that he didn't want to be lonely. That very same part that right at this moment in time was screaming in his head "No! No, not again! Not, this again! I don't want to die like this again! It was wet and it was dark and we were so alone!" The sense of hysterics was warring with a calm sense of disassociation. "We were so alone and yet there were so many arms dragging us down. Our throat was burning and then our lungs were burning and still they would not let go. Why? Why? WHY?"

Each "why" sent a piercing pain through Draco's mind as if something was pounding against a glass wall, creating cracks and driving sharp slivers of glass in his brain. Then suddenly the glass wall broke and he was drowning once more, but this was a different kind of drowning. He was engulfed in a sea of memories. His memories? No, they were not. And yet, they were? He knew that woman, that man, that boy. What did they call him? Regulus, Son, ... Reggie. “Don't call me that Sirius! It's a good, strong, pureblood name. Don't you dare muggle it up!”

With that wall gone, the stream of memories flooded into his own stream of consciousness until they couldn't be separated anymore. Draco and Regulus became one, perhaps they had always been one? Yes, that could be it. They had always been one, but they hadn't had access yet to their whole being. Now they were complete. ... And now it was too late. Somehow that calmed them/him down, as that burning sensation in their/his lungs felt so familiar.

"What a waste of a life." He thought. "If I manage to get reborn again I won't be so obsessed with pretending to be someone I'm not. With pretending to be Sirius. ... I wonder how Kreacher's doing, if he succeeded in destroying that vile thing."  That was his last thought before losing consciousness.

The next time he woke up wasn't in a newborn's body, however. It was in a bed in the hospital wing.

"Oh. Well this changes things, now doesn't it?"

Ok so this was stuck in my head. I had to write this down just to get some peace of mind. Unfortunately I can’t figure out how it would go on, besides Draco/Regulus being more adult and slytherin-like. And Harry not knowing what to do with a nemesis who has stopped paying attention to him (as far as he’s aware of course) 

So this is gonna be left here for anyone who want to pick it up and continue it (please let me know though. I’m dying to read what will be made of it!) This part can be rewritten of course.
