I don't understand why there isn't more Smart! Naruto fics.
Like, this kid, despite having his own damn apartment at, like, 7(which btw is the age he started the ninja academy)and likley living in an orphanage before then(cause there's no cannon proof that he was in the orphanage or if someone raised him till then), it's clear that he was still a street kid.

Sure bro received money by the worst ma- i mean 3rd Hokage every month, but we see that Naruto is over charged for stuff and refused survice by ppl in the village.
Despite it being in a filler episode and not technically cannon, I still go by the fact that Naruto stole food and maybe even money because of how much the villagers raised the prices on him or refused him service, and the money he received just wasn't enough or didn't last long.
Then there's the fact Naruto's house, in every scene you see, has cracks and stains(thats likely mold). When you see his apartment building, it looks old. I can't imagine that the Hokage, or anyone who liked Naruto, owned the building. Some ppl like thinking he lived in the red light district, but I doubt he did cause the 3rd visited him to give him his monthly expenses money. Even so, You can't tell me the apartment owner didn't turned off Naruto's hot water or refused to have anything broken fixed.
And I cant help but feel that Naruto wouldn't even bother to tell ayone about the issue cause to him its normal and he's likely embarrassed to even mention it.
On that topic, lets not forget the villagers. Despite there being no cannon proof that Naruto was physically abused, it is stated that he was severely neglected, isolated, and emotionally traumatized. There ain't no way this was all that was done to him. I hate to say it, but people r fucking assholes, especially when they decide they hate something/someone. You can't tell me some people didn't try to hurt this kid.
There's also the fact that Naruto didn't have Anbu guards. It's was just random Anbu who cared about Naruto and wanted to keep an eye on him now and then when they had the time. I'm sure the 3rd did send em out sometimes to check on Naruto, make sure he's alive, but that's all he'd do and is mentioned he ever did.
Which, is honestly crazy considering this is your damn jinchuriki and 4th Hokage's kid fucking kid. Put a proper goddamn guard on him!
Anyway, all this to say, aint no way Naruto isn't smart.
Sure, hes not book smart, not everybody can be Jason Todd, but he's definitely street smart.
Like, you can't tell me Naruto can't read body language, cause he had to learn it to know when ppl r lying to him or he's in danger.
You can't tell me Naruto doesn't know how to pick-pocket like a pro and never gets caught cause he learned how painful it was to get caught.
You can't tell me homie didn't teach himself how to scavenge and forage for food on trial and error, and is only alive thanks to Kurama, cause he's hungry and there wasn't enough money for food and he didn't want to bother Teuchi for more free ramen.
You can't tell me Naruto hadn't learned how to hide like he never existed just so he can get away from ppl trying to hurt him.
You can't tell me Naruto doesn't fight like a rabid animal, despite his training, when he feels he's truly in danger cause he head to fight for his life sometimes as a kid nd the practiced stances in class didn't help him cause he's so small.
You can't tell me, Naruto Uzumaki isn't acting like a happy go lucky idiot and simply does it so people underestimate and aren't prepared when he gets serious.
Naruto pulls a lot of pranks, You can't tell me he's not a trap expert.
Naruto just wants to not be looked down on and treated like he's a pariah. He wants to be treated like everyone else and I think it's sad that he thinks that becoming Hokage is the only way to accomplish that.
Honestly, I have no idea how he doesn't dislike the village and hold the villagers in contempt.
Like, literally, the only decently nice people to him, was Shikamaru, Kiba, Choji, Teuchi and Ayame.
Like, Iruka didn't even like Naruto till he was in the academy at 7 and even then I doubt he truly cared for Naruto till like a year or two of being his teacher.
I love that Iruka took initiative and did his best to keep Naruto in school, and tried to get him to pay attention in class. I hate that he constantly belittled Naruto and humiliated Naruto in front of his classmates over and over again which only spured on the bullying.
And yet, despite that, Iruka was like a father figure to Naruto. Are you fucking serious?
You can't convince me the 3rd Hokage truly cared about Naruto either. What kind of bastard places a 7 year old in a fucking apartment to fend for themselves without any adult supervision?
The 3rd did so much wrong and one of them was the way he went about his care for Naruto.
