I want to talk about the overwhelming sense of calm, when you’re standing in a room full of books. The comfort of a billion words flowing inbetween the covers, adventures you can take without ever leaving the safety of your bed.
I love that when my brain starts to go numb and begins to shut down because of my reality; I can be swallowed whole by the grip of someone else’s pen and the smell of a freshly opened book. Somebody else’s words and heart can, even temporarily help me escape from anything.
My own thoughts when their tongues are too sharp, the anxiety that seems to lay on me as if it were a suffocating blanket; my heart that seems to feel much more than it can bear at times. Books are the calm before the storm, the heartbeat to anyone that begs for a safe release.
