Hello!

I'm new to tumblr and don't know what I'm doing :) also all my interests are grandmacore. My favourite thing to do is dabble in things. I'm a dabbler to the core

Things I care about/engage with (a growing list):

Knitting (learning pattern designing)

Crochet (wearables when I can find a pattern, and sometimes amigurumi)

Finding Japanese knitting patterns (They use diagrams instead of written patterns and that's super cool!)

Language learning (I am trylingual lol. Currently studying beginner Japanese via Genki I and kanji via Wanikani (on lvl 15), maintaining my French and Taglish)

Pokemon (Gen 4 and below and also Legends of Arceus)

For some reason, reading about property and environmental law

Linguistics fun facts (I've never studied linguistics but I wish I could)

Book: Thomas and Niko in the City of Trees

Review: Yay! Do not read this on a plane like I did ❤ your seatmates will be reading it too

Reflection:

I read this because my boyfriend said he identifies with the protagonist figuring out his sexuality. It was very insightful to learn what he related to, especially since my experience is completely different.

We had a nice little conversation, and my take away is that (at least in his circles) straight boys don't really verbalize or read into negotiating the parameters of their relationships without a strong reason. I guess they're negotiated indirectly, when it does happen. But what their relationships can look like seem to rely on a mutual unspoken sense of what exactly "friend" looks like, and that the relationship endures if they can stay within that sense of familiarity. I imagine that knowing the bounds of "friendship" is extra important for them.

At least, that's the sense him and I got. A lot of the tension surrounds the main characters drawing a line, toeing it, and then renegotiating the relationship.

Can the boyfriend's experience be universalized? Who knows. Definitely not me lol.

I recently learnt that my local public library does not keep track of past books you take out :0 ..... I have memory issues! This is devestating! So I am going to start posting the books I read here to keep track
