Happy headcanon (4/2): Carol sobers up so she can drive to New Jersey, but when 6pm comes, Therese is reluctant to spend time with her darling Carol's awful ex-husband and his wife. She tries to send Carol on her way alone, making up work-related excuses. "Darling, we already know what'll be on the front page tomorrow. And besides," she says with a smirk, "I'm too tipsy to drive myself." Before Therese can reply, she pours and immediate tosses back a hefty glass of straight liquor.
