I’d like to wish a big Happy Birthday to two of the loveliest people here.  I’m married to a Taurean, so that’s probably why I’m drawn to the both of them!

Me, a few months ago: I’ll take a few days off to celebrate my sister’s birthday with her, it will be nice and relaxing. Also me, on the second day: *wakes up with a knee so badly in pain that I could hardly move* Me, this week: I’ll take a few days off to spend with my dad, it’s gonna be lovely and a nice compensation for what happened last time I took a few days off. Also me, the very first day: *starts having stomach pain that within a few hours means I end up in the hospital due to an infected kidney* Clearly, my body just hates taking time off. In other news though, it’s cheered me up immensely to be tagged by @pocketwishes, @smittenwithsugden and @i-cordelia, it’s so sweet of you to include me and I promise I will do that when I’m better, I also got a loving message from @aaron-fan, saw again the new, 3D version of my old icon that @robertssofttouchxaaronssoftlad made for me (not only is she so kind to me, but she’s willing to make a special icon/header for others too, so you can feel free to ask her and give her all the love for how wonderful she is) and @stulot sent me a link to ‘the snuggle is real’ Robron post. Thank you all, I hope you know you make this universe a better place on the daily simply by existing in it. <33333

First up. I wish I could convey to you how much I adore and appreciate those transcripts. I know it’s time-consuming and you probably get such a low note yield, but my god the number of times I’ve just gone to your page to double check a quote or a reference instead of going to youtube and accidentally rewatching everything is just astounding. You’re a living bookmark on this and any other devices I own because I’m always puttering around in there.

But more than that, I’ll never forget when I stumbled across your first version of 100 Ways To Say I Love You. I’d just started fic writing then and it absolutely blew me away that someone would try something like that. And not only did you do it well, but you attempted it a second time. That’s flabbergasting to me.

Lastly, this is probably only going to be me complimenting you for this (which is where the birthday thing definitely kicks in because I think that’s the only explanation), but I love that you have an organised blog in terms of navigation links and tagging. It’s so easy to find stuff on your blog, because it’s all a matter of simple clicks. I love it when a system is designed well, and you did that!

So yeah. I mean, fandom enthusiasm ebbs and flows, as does our feelings of connectivity with the people in it. But I think the important thing is just letting yourself look back and see the journey you’ve had thus far and how many other people’s connectivity with robron you enable just by being your helpful self. And (Like, you came up with “This Day In Robron” and that’s such a fun way to look back on things and also put things in context! Also the Robron Awards you organised and collected and posted results for! That was so fun to take part in!)

I really hope this makes you feel better, because so much of the stuff you do is often out of passion and out of your own time and effort, and it never ceases to put a smile on my face. Thanks for doing everything you do, and making our fandom a better place for it!

they’re both equally as tired, but robert is absolutely the cuddly type of tired person, and aaron likes to pretend that he doesn’t like cuddling in bed all that much, but he secretly loves it and sometimes thinks it’s the best thing about robert

aaron 100% is energised again after a short while and is ready and raring to go again (and they do - most of the time)

Title: The Little Moments

summary: Rob and Aaron come together slowly.

day 1

The sunlight falling on the bed slowly penetrates Aaron’s sleep and he opens his eyes, blinking to clear his vision. He smiles into his arm, the ache in his bones reminding of him of the night before, Robert in him, around him and he can’t help the thrum of happiness in his chest. He reaches one hand over, frowns at finding an empty bed. The sheets are still warm. Glancing up as the door to the room opens, he smiles softly, Robert catches his eyes and gives him an open, sincere smile. That thrumming grows in intensity and Aaron sits up in his bed, back against the frame, watches Robert come around to hand him one of the mugs he’s carrying. He leans down to kiss Aaron’s forehead once, then again before moving away.

day 63

Robert smiles at him as he enters their office and Aaron grins back, leans back against his chair.

“What do ya want for dinner tonight?”

They’ve only been at it two months, everything with Rebecca having slowed them down a bit, and Aaron frowns, thinks of that tragedy and feels a tug of sadness. It should never have gone that way. But he can’t help be relieved that Robert is safe, that Liv and Seb are safe.

He notes Robert hesitation and waits.

“Actually, I can’t tonight.” Robert turns to look at him, his face somber and disappointed. “Diane and Doug have tickets to some show, making a whole night of it. Vic also has plans.”

Fridays meant him and Robert, some meal he’ll order or Robert cooks, stupid Netflix shows and snogging. Lots of snogging and then lots of Robert. In his bed. He likes these date nights the best.

“Bring him.”

Robert freezes and looks at him, eyebrows raising. “You what?”

Aaron holds back his sigh. It itches, this feeling that Robert can’t quite understand that Aaron wants the best for Seb, that he cares about the little boy so much. Robert is trying to protect him from what he thinks Aaron feels. “Bring Seb. I haven’t seen him in a week, Robert. It’ll be nice to catch up with him.” Aaron grins and Robert starts to smile.

“I’d have to bring his cot and…”

“Robert.”

Robert stops and meets Aaron’s stare.

“Bring him.”

day 149

“Gerry, where’s my drawing pad?”

Aaron glances back toward the newly finished stairs, watches as Liv glares down at Gerry’s head.

“How should I know!”        

Robert gently moves Liv down the stairs, stops to give Seb a quick kiss on the head then turns to Aaron. “Did I leave my white shirt here?”

Aaron motions to the dryer. “In there.” He watches Robert pull it out, wrinkle his nose and head back upstairs for the iron Aaron supposes.

His gaze flicks over to Seb, who is calmly eating his bananas and ignoring the utter chaos going on around him.  Aaron steps up to him, his heart fills with joy as Seb gives him a gummy, sticky grin. “I wish I could do the same, mate. Ignore the lot of them, yeah?” Seb giggles and Aaron kisses the side of his head.

Robert is running down the stairs, grabs his case and heads toward Seb.

“Rob, he’s a mess. Clean him up first.”

Robert rolls his eyes, shakes his head as he pulls Seb out of his seat. “I’ve got to drop him off at home, Lydia is already waiting.” He kisses Aaron slow, lingers and then kisses his cheek once. Seb grabs at Aaron’s cheeks, leaves it sticky, before they are both out the door.

Gerry’s head pokes out from the landing. “Oi, Rob!”

Robert is back inside a second later, looks up at Gerry. “What?”

“Do you want me to drop off Seb’s cot and chair for you at your flat or what?”

Robert’s eyes meet Aaron’s. They’d had an argument about it the night before. Aaron wants Robert and Seb to stay, to move in.

Aaron opens his mouth to say he’d do it, but he stops as Robert stares at him. Robert and Seb had been staying with them for a week while Lydia and Sam had gone on holiday – their first proper honeymoon. Usually they keep Seb for the night a couple of times a week while Robert stays over at the Mill. It had been Aaron’s idea for both to stay the week at the house.

He wants Robert to see that it works. Aaron’s made room for them. He got the stairs redone to Robert’s surprise. Liv’s happy to start turning Seb against him and Robert already. He brings it up to Robert every other week now. Doesn’t understand the hesitation.

He glances at the cot and chair then back at Robert.

Robert’s smile is sweet. “No, you’re alright.”

Aaron’s happiness bubbles inside.

day 162

Seb is finally asleep and Aaron’s never been happier to crawl into their bed. He can hear Robert messing around in their bathroom, but he doesn’t have the energy to call out to him. He knows he needs to get out of his clothes, spit up and medicine having spilt all over. They’re being run ragged by a nine-month-old with an ear infection, they haven’t had one moment to themselves in days, Liv is having some trouble she won’t tell him about but he caught Robert talking to her after dinner, and Gerry’s turned out to be the best babysitter they’ve found after Lydia.

Paddy had come round to check on Seb and his smile when he’d sat with Aaron once Robert heads up to try to get Seb to bed said it all.

“You’re happy.”

Aaron smiles into his pillow, hears the click of the bathroom door and Robert’s hand on the back of his head a second later. He opens one eye and Robert is standing over him, shirtless, hair mussed and damp, eyes warm if a little tired.

“Oi. Get in there. I drew ya a bath.”

“You add bubbles to it too?”

“Shut it, you moppet. Go. Relax.”

Robert pulls him up, starts to move away but Aaron holds him close, leans in to kiss him gently then harder until Robert’s hands are pushing him closer, Aaron’s hands threaded through the wet curls at the back of Robert’s head.

It’s not going any further. Too tired by half. But he remembers sharply what it felt like not to have this. How the house was too quiet even with him and Liv.

Everything is different now.

Aaron couldn’t ask for anything more
