gentleman Eirikr are there any existing demons that Doi could do justice with a redesign?

Honestly, there's so many that need it from SMT1 especially. Let's go with some familiar faces from pfp usage:

Doi just needs to make a typical Fudo that's not as dull as SMT1's Kaneko-Before-Finding-His-Demon-Design-Confidence-in-SMT2 ver. Should be extremely doable!

And now for me:

I'm extremely wary of Doi attempting Bael. If I were a shit, I would bet money on Polymarket that Doi would attempt something funky and unorthodox with the human/toad/cat combo. Like the lame Kaneko SMT2 version, only worse.

But this is about demons he could do justice. Okay, strike that one from the record.

If they're never gonna use Soul Hackers Orochi, at least let the guy do a new version so we don't need to look at this boring ass ever again (Note that these "boring" designs were perfectly fine in sprite form in 1992--but it ain't 1992 anymore.) Unlikely to happen so close to Hydra, though.

I remember 6 years ago when I incorrectly guessed that the character that ended up being Aogami might be Indra. Man, Aogami.

But to generally answer the question, it really is a lot of the SMT1 demon roster. Many are iconic but in severe need of an update/glow-up.

How long until we hear about SMT VI? Also since every game made by Maniacs Team were referencing a previous game, do you think they reference Strange Journey next? (or make something original for once)

My right index finger is currently fucked up (wearing a bandage on it) so I'm down my most-used finger at a time when only those fingers on my right hand are actually useful for typing. All that to say I'll have to keep this short. So let's just quickly look at timelines:

SMT4: May 2013

SMT5:November 2021

Assuming prelim development on 5 began in the second half of 2013, we then got this thing in January 2017:

Just a little over three years after SMT4 wrapped.It's been a little different this cycle with Vengeance being the re-release product (as opposed to 4A) but since right about now is an equivalent time-frame to the 5 teaser trailer release, an acknowledgement that something is in the works could happen sooner rather than later--but they are trying to sell Raidou Remastered currently. Once that's out of the way, it's anyone's guess.

If SMT6 takes cues from any particular game, it won't be Strange Journey, It'll be SMT4, mark my words (wholly original is probably too risky). Enough time has passed that it is now the nostalgic favorite. I'm down with seeing SMT4-style decayed urban sprawl, only scaled up, and also being in control of a relatively ordinary protagonist instead of an over-designed superhero.

I hope that a teaser for SMT6 will come out with Switch 2, but the game will only come out a few years later. This worked for the 5, right?

So it begins anew (almost):

I don't see Atlus doing too many console exclusives anymore, though. At most, timed exclusive or the kind of weird marketing that makes a game seem like it's gonna be exclusive to one platform (SH2, Metaphor).

I'm not very excited by the prospect of a Switch 2. I still feel burned by SMT5 and the original Switch. I barely played it other than that one game. So I'll wait out Switch 2 for a few years at least and hope whatever SMT also comes to PS5, i feel confident it would.

If SMT VI happens, and they do included stolas, but he got a redesign, would you still want him in your party? For me, if he looks worse than the hazbin hotel/helluva boss version of him, i wouldn't even recruit or make him through fusion, even if he's one of the best demons in that hypothetical game

Man. The one time I watched Helluva Boss for five minutes it was abject misery but I guess it wasn't because of Stolas. So I'd have to agree.

Personally, I'd want Stolas to be as exact to the Le Breton illustration as possible, since he's just that perfect. But even if Doi wants to get a little creative, I can't imagine it being as bad as this old doompost:

Could it? One thing Stolas has going for him is a lack of Japanese pop culture cache. So he's more free to just be himself. As he should be.

But he's not a cute idol girl or Yoshitsune, so his hypothetical exclusive skill (”Gem Finder”?) will be garbage.

at this point do you even want an smtv? I don't want to spoil anyone, so I'll keep my wording vague, but doesn't the whole final boss callback kind of bring the games full circle? scratch the first question -- do you think they'd consider making an smtv now? I have a feeling smtiv final is really going to be the last installment in the smt series, especially now that it's gotten close to the persona series in terms of character archetypes/development.

I know, these are like cheating. They'll never stop making installments of any franchise out of respect for a story or overarching narrative as long as they keep making money.
