I found some diy tutorial for making your own smudge guard out of socks, and of course I jumped to try it because a) my old smudge guard was getting really gross, and b) one of my fave pairs of socks, a Night Vale set, had a big hole worn into the heel and there was no repairing it for wearing, but I could recycle it into a smudge guard glove and still use it.

here’s the tutorial I found and used - no sewing machine needed; the lady probably used one but I just used a hand-sewn backstitch for everything, including tidying up the edge along the hand opening.
