AU where Severus survives and lives to a ripe old age watching as a bunch of middle-class hipsters set about gentrifying Spinner' End turning the neighborhood into a place full of brunch spots and specialty coffee shops and if he wants to buy a fucking bag of tea the only thing he can find is fucking matcha from who-knows-where and basically everyone knows him as a grumpy old man who starts yelling and causing a scene every time he goes to the specialty shop and can’t find anything he needs because everything is imported and costs twice the regular price.
doodling cowboy!snape
inspired by this
p.s. commissions are open
So i thought of a little snape au one time in the bus home.
Easily said snape gets adopted by the evans family bc of his home life.
So in more detail:
Severus's father (tobias) was arrested for abuse. And eileen was then put in a sorta mental hospital to deal with her depression and the harm done to her by tobias.
And with no parents present and severus being as i would like to say around 12 to 14 was not old enough to live alone in the house. So he was supposed to be put in a orphanage. but the evans's who have been noticing some signs and been discussing the issue in silents (maybe with lily to when old enough to get it). Have been silently looking after severus to when he was with them.
So when all this happend with his parents the evans's thought it would be best if they would take severus in with them for till he's old enough to be on his own. They managed after a while to come in contact with severus's mum and discussed with her that they would keep severus with them for till she would be able to handle taking care of him again if needed.
In the years that severus has been living with them he has become a lot healthier. Not so skin and bone but a good weight and healthy outlook. He's also been happier and growing in lots of ways.
He's now 17 and still lives with the evans's. His mum is out of the hospital but still in therapy. She is firstly deciding to work on taking care of herself till she can fully live with severus again. That's why severus only visits or maybe if possible sleeps over for not more than 5 days. But on some good days he'll be able to stay a week and help his mum out. And to try and rekindle that mother and son bond.
This what i have so far, pls tell if anyone is interested to see more. I'm thinking of making this in a comic way if i can. Or just little doodles for now.
Chapter I: The date
Part I:
To be continued....
The next part is here: here ←-----------------
Speaking of "Snape lives au", what do you think would be Snape's reaction when he knew Harry named his son after him? You said Harry would try to establish cordial relations and it became possible as time went by, maybe he would even ask Snape to be the godfather of his second child? Would he agree to this? I like to imagine that Snape would be horrified, pleased and disgusted at the same time
That’s an interesting question because naming a child as a tribute is often tied to loss. It’s not the same to recognize and appreciate someone while they’re alive as it is to do so after their death, when you can no longer express it directly.
If Severus had survived, Harry could have shown his gratitude in many other ways: by talking to him, maintaining a relationship with him, and ensuring that his story was properly acknowledged in the wizarding world. In that case, would he have felt the need to name his child after him? I’m not sure either. The gesture of "Albus Severus" carries a strong sense of posthumous reconciliation, of belated recognition. If Severus had been alive, that reconciliation could have happened in person, and the name might not have been necessary.
There’s also the detail that many names in the series seem to serve as a way of immortalizing the dead within the family. This happens with James and Lily, Sirius, with Remus to some extent (Teddy’s middle name is after him), and with Albus and Severus—but not with people who are still alive.
On the other hand, Snape himself doesn’t seem like someone who would value or need tributes like that. He might even have felt uncomfortable if Harry had named his son after him while he was still alive. So yes, the "what if" is completely open-ended, but it makes sense to think that if Snape had lived, Harry would have found other ways to express his gratitude.
Just thinkin about spellsword!Snape again.
