Sure I guess Dappled Forest is pretty. But with how biomes are generated, sometimes it is annoying to find these new biomes in survival without an Elytra. And no, I refuse to spend my very limited play hours walking around in hopes to find a Pale garden, mangrove swamp, or a cherry grove. That's why I am not as excited to see another biome that it will take me hours to find in my survival world.
But the other three? Oh yeah. I will definitely have some use in wool slabs and stairs. I just wish concrete also has these variations but oh well. One step at a time.
Straw bed is a godsend especially when exploring or farming. Never have I to worry about resetting my spawn just to skip the day. And also, it gives more functionality to the hay bale, which is a plus.
But the main event is the cushion. I know the feeling of adding chairs (aka stairs and banners and trapdoors) without being able to sit on them. So I am glad Mojang finally found a way to get that to happen while also allowing it to be functional on other ways. I am looking forward to the release of this drop because man. I am going to replace my water elevators with this one.
For your snapshot series, Katniss experiencing the woods for enjoyment instead of for survival... :)
Thanks for the prompt @xerxia31. Hope you like what I came up with
Snapshot 3
Canon compliant, GBT snippets of every day life. (1,000 words or less)
Everlark. The end of the first spring after the war.
Snapshot 1, Snapshot 2
The world was still waking up when Katniss stepped into the woods that morning.
A symphony of bright pinks, fiery reds, and dark blues painted the sky. The different hues blended and changed as the sun slowly came up.
Quietly, Katniss walked along the winding path which led to the creek. It wasn’t her usual route –she usually went there much later in the day– but the distant sound of trickling water called out to her, and she just let it guide her feet.
She reached the top of a hill and paused to catch her breath.
Lifting her arms over her head, Katniss closed her eyes for an instant and inhaled, greedily filling her lungs with crisp mountain air. The smell of pine needles, damp earth, and early blossoms tickled her nose and clung to her hair and her skin.
Fully recovered, she started walking again, carefully avoiding the slippery banks of green moss which gave way under her feet.
She had reached the last section of her trek when the rhythmic tapping of a woodpecker made her stop. Looking up, she found the eager bird. The rapid movement of its long beak and bright red head brought a smile to her lips.
She continued on her way, letting her eyes dart through the woods as she walked, following up tree trunks and along branches until they reached the sky.
Without even trying, she spotted a robin’s nest, a rabbit’s lair, and a few hollow trees that looked like squirrel dens.
She let them be.
Her soul was at peace, her belly full. She didn’t need to be a hunter today.
By the time she saw the line of trees opening up onto the creek, the sky had turned a pale shade of blue.
As she neared the water, she saw a vast field appearing on the other side of the bank.
Katniss’s eyes widened as she took in the hundreds of flowers which covered the expanse. They were all different shapes and sizes. An explosion of color, a chaotic composition of beautiful proportions.
Zooming in on them, she recognized violets, daisies, columbines, and lilies among others, all standing happily together under the glorious morning sun.
A soft breeze blew in. It rustled the leaves of the trees behind her and touched the delicate petals on the field.
Katniss watched in awe as the stems swayed, making the entire field dance in perfect harmony as it followed the same beat.
Pulling off her boots and her socks, Katniss walked over to the edge of the shallow stream. Looking down, she noticed the smooth rocks on the mossy floor, gleaming like polished jewels under the crystalline water.
Cautiously, she crossed the small brook avoiding the bigger rocks and laughing airily as the cold water tickled her feet.
She spent the rest of the morning lazing about on the field. She gathered flowers, listened to the distant song of the mockingjays, and reveled in the warm touch of the sun on her skin.
The soft murmur of the water and the wind brought her contentment and peace.
There, in her father’s woods, she realized that her life would never be whole again –not in the way it once had been. The emptiness left by her father, her sister and everyone else she had known and was now gone was far too big. But even without them, there were still things in the world that made her happy.
A field full of color and life and promise was one of them. The tenderness in Peeta’s blue eyes was another.
With that thought in mind, she dusted off her clothes, gathered her things and headed back home.
Have a post mockingjay snippet idea? Let me know, I might turn it into a snapshot.
Snapshots are either 100 words, 150 words, or 200 words exactly
Ben Solo was awakened by the soft sliding sound of his door opening. He sat up quickly, looking at Rey, outlined in his doorway.
“Marry me.” Rey murmured, walking into his room as he flicked on his lamp. She shed her outer cloak, rubbing her eyes. She’d clearly just gotten back.
Ben just stared at her. This was rather sudden.
“Tabor got killed. He’d been talking about how excited he was to get married,” She sighed, “and then he just died. Ben, we could die before the First Order falls. I don’t want to drag me feet about this.”
Ben pulled her into his arms, “It’s okay.” He said quietly, “If this is what you want, then of course I’ll marry you.”
Rey buried her face in his shirt, “Can I try proposing again tomorrow? When I’m not all tired and crying?”
