stupid theory

I saw a bunch of theories floating around about who Savitar really is, so I’m throwing in my own.

Leonard Snart.

Directly from a text I sent to a friend:

The Oculus is outside of Time, which is where Len blew up. I think pieces of his memories/soul were sent back in time, to 10,000 years ago. Speed force saw how much he wanted revenge on Barry, so it gave him the means to do so. The ONLY part of Len that wasn’t sent back in time was the part of him that changed.

Who has it?

Mick.

That’s why he was hallucinating Len.

And, Len did have everything taken away from him. Speed force contributed that to Barry. Savitar did as well, only because he doesn’t remember the Legends.

To clear up parts of the text: Mick’s hallucinations of Len would have come from the little bit of Len’s soul attached to Mick’s, sort of like FIRESTORM. Mick’s grief could have been a part of the strength of those visions, and the touchdown to 2017 (where, of course, the rest of Len’s soul is) could have brought it out as well. 

Savitar killing Iris might be payback for the fact that he was taken away from the people he loved most- Mick and Lisa. Iris being Barry’s fiancee (and hopefully wife soon!) matches Len and Mick’s relationship (marriage), and of course he’s bitter about never seeing Lisa again. Barry’s (slight) influence on him made him sacrifice himself for the good of the group, and he might be making Barry suffer through what Len’s loved ones had to. Especially for Mick, since he was one of the last to see Len alive, and Barry will be the last to see Iris if it doesn’t go the way it should (her surviving). Someone watching their spouse die? Sounds like both the first season finale of LoT and the coming episodes of Flash.

Also, the blue lightening matches his cold gun. That may just be a coincidence.

“what do you mean you’re fine? you are not fine!” with those criminal husbands :3c

This kinda pulls on stuff we’ve talked about before w/ stuff about the crime husbands. Also got pretty angsty and Len is definitely not ok and won’t admit it.  Set LoT time, because reasons.

“What do you mean you’re fine? You are not fine!” Mick yelled, slamming the door behind him and watching Len flinch at the sudden noise. Len’s expression was still terrifyingly blank, eyes still staring past Mick’s shoulder through the now-closed door at where the rest of the team had been watching them curiously.

“Lenny,” Mick said, quietly this time, taking a step further into the room and waiting for Len to focus on him.

Len’s gaze dropped to the floor instead, and Mick sighed, forcing himself to stay calm despite the quiet wheezing of Len’s breath, the bruises still coming up on the skin, and the cold familiarity of his expression. Mick had hoped he’d never see that look on Len again, the quiet fear as he folded into himself and tried to hide everything away.

Len’s eyes snapped back up to the door as someone knocked, and Mick growled as he opened the door sharply. “What,” Mick glared at the intruder, anger at Savage and the entire situation escaping in the easy target offered by anyone who wasn’t Len.

“Peanut gallery’s gone,” Sara said calmly, voice soft and clear but just loud enough to make sure Len could hear every word. “Hallway should be clear to the med bay, and if it’s not I’ve made it very clear that anyone hanging around gets a five hour training session personally overseen by yours truly.” The grin she shot Mick was wicked and dangerous, and reminded Mick of exactly why she was his second favorite on the team.

Sara stole a glance into the room past Mick before giving him a look and walking away. Mick closed the door carefully behind her before turning back to Len, unsurprised to see that he’d disappeared while Mick had been distracted.

Mick walked over to the edge of the bed and grabbed a blanket, tossing it at the hunched figure pressed into the corner of the room. Len twitched, catching the bundle of fabric instinctively and examining it with excessive intensity before frowning up at Mick. The confused frown shifted quickly to a scowl as he caught Mick’s smirking expression, but Len unfolded the blanket enough to curl it around him, so Mick counted it as a win.

It only took a few minutes before Len relaxed enough to let his legs sprawl across the floor, and Mick unconsciously mirrored the pose on the bed across from him. Mick gave him another few minutes before asking pointedly, “You gonna let me bandage you up now, or do you wanna bleed on your blanket some more?” and stared blankly back at Len’s glare.

“’s technically your blanket,” Len mumbled defiantly, shuffling to his feet with the blanket held carefully on his shoulders. Mick rolled his eyes, but still slipped under one of Len’s arms and guided him down to the medical area carefully, grateful that Sara’s threats had indeed kept the hallway clear.

Len has a soft spot for fuzzy tiny animals; Mick takes advantage of this fact mercilessly.

which one injures themself while trying to impress the other

They’re too professional to do it on a job, but Len is constantly getting himself hurt it really stupid minor ways trying to do stuff for himself/Mick/prove he doesn’t need help to build a stupid cabinet.

which one carries the other on their shoulders when they get too tired to walk

Logistics aside, Mick has had to carry a sleeping Len to bed more than once when Len’s just worked himself right into unconsciousness.  Mostly bc while he’d be willing to leave Len to sleep in peace [Len almost always wakes up and has a minor freak out when he realizes he’s being carried until Mick can calm him down], Lisa gets worried so it’s better in the long run if Len gets to an actual comfortable bed or couch.

which one puts pizza rolls in the shopping cart when the other isn’t looking

“shopping cart” lol Mick steals them bc Len forgets to eat/sometimes can’t function enough to make himself food and they’re simple enough that Len can and will make them on bad days if they’re there.

which one sends the other useless fun facts at 3 am

I mean they’re usually together at 3am, but Len’s awake and overthinking so Mick has to distract him with stuff that doesn’t matter in the long run but will hold his interest long enough to pull him out of the painful thoughts he’s usually stuck in.

which one feeds stray animals

Both but mostly Len bc he’s secretly a softie.  Mick does it mostly bc it makes Len happy/cheers Lisa up to see a cute stray cat walk over and cuddle up to him.

which one sleeps in really weird positions

See the thing about Len is that he will work himself to exhaustion and then keep working until he literally can’t stop himself from falling asleep.  [see above re: Mick carrying him to bed]  He gets nightmares, and if he’s alone he usually curls up into the tightest ball he can manage but usually Lisa will wake him up before they get to their worst part and then offer reassurance that they’re both still safe bc they’ve grown up needing to check in with each other.  If Mick’s there, though, Len can and will use him like a stuffed animal and is the clingiest person you have ever seen [Mick laughs at him affectionately but knows why and is always very careful not to actually mock him about it or make Len feel worse than he already does about it].

which one opens all the jars/bottles

Mick.  Len really can’t handle broken glass so while he can and will open stuff for himself when alone, Mick usually just automatically takes it and opens it bc he can and it means Len doesn’t have to worry about accidentally breaking it and having a panic attack.

also wow sorry this got really serious for a couple questions, whoops, back to happy things:

which one spontaneously bursts into song for no reason

Lisa and the boys have to join in or risk disappointing her.  Len also occasionally hums under his breath without really realizing and Mick loves it bc it means he’s calm and feels safe and comfortable enough to let his guard down.

which one buys the other really weird birthday cards

“buys” lol they usually just skip the cards and steal something for each other, the weirder but more personalized the better.  Lisa takes it as her sisterly duty to give them both hilarious cards though.

1: Who spends almost all their money on the other?

“Spends money” HA!!! [Len steals so much shit for Mick it’s ridiculous; he has an entire room of shiny stuff to tinker with that Len stole for him]

3: Who walks around the house half-naked and who yells at them to put on some clothes?

Mick: what are clothes

Len: oh my god u knew we’re gonna have company, can u not

5: Which one tries to make food for the other but burns it all by accident and which one tells them that it’s okay and makes them both cookies?

“accident” Suuuuuure. Mick likes fire too much

7: Which one constantly wears the other’s clothes?

Len’s parka is warm, ok!?!?!

9: Which one drives the car and which one gives them directions?

well, canonically Len drives and tells Mick to put on his seatbelt.  Mick would probably give them directions off a cliff tbh, but Lisa’s somehow even worse, so Len just memorizes the route beforehand

11: If they were about to rob a museum, which one does backflips through lasers and which one is strolling behind with a bag of chips?

Lisa does the backflips, Len and Mick stand there and stick their tongues out when she acts all smug about it (they give her proper applause once they’re making their way out of the museum and don’t have to worry about alarms)

Len has done the backflips.  Mick got distracted from keeping lookout and Lisa had to save their butts (again)
