matt says "if i was a girl it would be funny" when what he really means is "if i was a girl you wouldn't push me away." the entire basis of the striptease joke is that he's a man sexualizing himself in a feminine way; if he were a woman, that wouldn't hold up at all, but maybe jay would allow it.

but at the same time, being funny to each other is the emotional core of their relationship. it's a kind of rejection when jay physically pushes matt off of him, but it's also a rejection when he says "no, it's not funny." to matt, making jay laugh is synonymous with being close to him, so in this hypothetical alternate universe it remains his goal, even if it doesn't make total sense.
