for anyone who didn't know, who was too young or not yet alive for the GWB presidency, Dick Cheney RAN this fucking country. George W Bush is an incompetent piece of shit, whose platform mainly consisted of 'my daddy was the president,' and could not be trusted to tie his own damn shoelaces without help. everything that he did during his presidency - the response to 9/11, the Iraq War - that was all Dick Cheney puppeting him behind the scenes.
GWB was the president I remember being in office growing up. 9/11 was my fucking 10th birthday, the Iraq War was the backdrop for my childhood. I watched thousands of young men sign up to go gun down innocent Iraqi and absolutely destroy an entire country in the name of misplaced revenge, only to be spat out on the other end with PTSD and no benefits of which to speak. no one won except American oil and Dick fucking Cheney.
I thought that when Obama was elected president, that was it. that would be the worst presidency I ever lived through. I wish I was fucking right. but the GWB presidency was the fucking ladder leading from the relatively moderate conservative American pre 2000s to the manic fascists we're seeing today. so THANK YOU DICK CHENEY for all of that. if hell is real, may you suffer a thousand deaths of the innocent people you destroyed.
