Snowbing Korean Dessert Cafe is Back at SM City North EDSA

With all the Korean samgyupsal restaurants around the city, it’s great to see that this popular Korean dessert is finally back where it all started. Snowbing made its name two years ago when it opened its first branch at the main building of SM City North EDSA serving its signature Korean bingsu. After a brief hiatus, it has now reopened at the new North Towers building with the same colorful frozen desserts that are perfect for our tropical country.

Snowbing Philippines is a Korean dessert cafe which specializes in shaved ice desserts. You can find the returning branch at the second level of the new North Towers which houses several buffet and Samgyupsal restaurants, kiddie play areas, a dog cafe, a new Park Inn by Radissons Hotel, and other family-oriented establishments.

Snowbing is a great place to drop by after a hearty lunch or a tiring afternoon at Timezone with the kids. Instead of having another cup of milk tea, a big bowl of fruity frozen dessert sounds much more exciting. This is Korea’s version of the Halo Halo which is why Filipinos also love these items.

The cafe’s speciality is their Bingsu, a Korean dessert made with shaved ice and then topped with sweetened condensed milk and various fruits and other ingredients. There are 12 different bingsu variants to choose from and they are all so enticing. Chocolates, mangoes, strawberries, everything looks so good to eat.

The secret to Snowbing’s success is that they use powdered milk ice which doesn’t melt as easily as ice cream or the usual shaved ice. Their items are also very affordable at just between P168 to P198 which can be shared by two persons.

Now let’s try some of their signature desserts. The Tropical Fruit (P168) bingsu is a colorful and fruity combination of kiwi, grapes, and other fruits topped with whipped cream. The sweetened condensed milk that coats the ice shavings makes the entire bowl sweet and creamy.

Another option is the Mangoes and Cream (P168) with chunks of mango cubes and a copious amount of whipped cream drizzled with mango syrup. 

One of their most popular flavors is the Strawberries and Cream (P168) bingsu. This shaved ice dessert is surrounded by lots of strawberries then sprinkled with strawberry syrup and topped off with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream.

There’s also the Tiramisu (P198) bingsu which has slices of coffee-flavored dessert cake drizzled with powdered cocoa.

Another fruity option is the Apple Crumble (P198) with its apple slices and powdered crust. It’s just like eating a bingsu version of the apple pie.

My favorite bingsu variant is the Cookies & Cream (P188) with its crushed Oreo cookies and chocolate-flavored shaved ice. It also comes topped with a scoop of chocolate ice cream so everything I love is here.

Other popular bingsu flavors are the Cheezy Mango (P168) with its chunks of cheese in between mango bits and graham. On the other hand, matcha lovers would want to order the Matcha Green Tea (P188) bingsu with red beans, green tea ice cream, and green tea kit kat.

Snowbing Philippines is definitely one of the coolest desserts you can find. You can even get them in these cute takeout cups so you can bring them wherever you go. Snowbing is also available for delivery at Foodpanda so getting them is as easy as a few clicks on your phone.

Snowbing Opens First Branch in SM North EDSA

The Korean craze continues to sizzle as the newest Korean frozen dessert cafe just opened at one of the biggest malls in the country. We have had our fill of Korean dramas, Korean barbecues, and Korean burgers lately, but now it’s time for a cooler and sweeter Korean frozen treat - Bingsu!

Snowbing Philippines is a Korean dessert cafe which had its soft opening last July 15 at the ground floor of SM North EDSA’s City Center. You can find this cute restaurant just in front of National Bookstore and beside Banana Leaf. I dropped by one evening to check out the this new colorful hangout spot and was surprised to find out that they also offer pizza, pasta, and toasts to go with their frozen treats. 

This cute little space can probably seat around 30 diners and is perfect for those small get togethers with friends. Snowbing has a chill and relaxing ambiance, with its walls covered by screens playing the latest K-Pop music.

The cafe’s speciality is their Bingsu, a Korean dessert made with shaved ice and then topped with sweetened condensed milk and various fruits and other ingredients. There are 12 different bingsu variants to choose from and they all seem so enticing! Chocolates, mangoes, strawberries, everything looks so good to eat!

Snowbing also offers a few savory items on the menu, enough to fill your tummies before heading to the main dessert highlights. 

There are four pizza flavors at Snowbing which include the basic Cheese Pizza (P99) and Pepperoni Pizza (P99). These pizza slices are far bigger than the usual servings you get at other pizza chains and I really enjoyed eating them. The relatively thin crust leaves more room for the cheese and toppings.

They also have the Korean Pizza (P99) which is loaded with sumptuous beef bulgogi and the more unusual Kimchi Pizza (P99) with its bell peppers and bacon. I loved the Korean pizza and it tasted like a savory meatlovers pizza.

Snowbing also features a few pasta dishes like the Salted Egg Pasta (P198). This creamy pasta is topped with a few bits of bacon to balance the rich flavors of the pasta.

My favorite was the Korean Pasta (P198) with its generous amounts of Korean beef bulgogi combined with garlic and bell peppers. It’s a bit too oily, but that’s also what makes it so yummy.

Another unusual offering is the Kimchi Pasta (P198), a fusion of Korean and Italian specialties. This comes with bacon and long slices of kimchi vegetables intertwined with the spicy pasta. This one was a bit too hot for me, but spicy-food lovers will definitely enjoy it.

Aside from the pizza and pasta, they also serve a variety of toasted breads like the Belgian Chocolate Toast (P188). This is a huge slice of toasted bread topped and drizzled with Belgian chocolate. Other variants include Honey Butter, Matcha Green Tea, and White and Dark Chocolate Toast.

There is not much of a selection for beverages, but if you want something better than just soda in cans, try the Citron Shake (P100) with its zesty lemon taste.

Now it’s time to taste their specialty bingsu! With 12 different variants, it’s a tough decision to choose which ones to order. So I went with one of the prettiest flavors, the Strawberries and Cream (P168) bingsu. This shaved ice dessert is surrounded by lots of strawberries then sprinkled with strawberry syrup and topped off with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream.
