A little info for you for our first blog post...
Who what where and why...Snowman?
My name is Simon - some (not many) call me the Snowman...
SnowmanDigital began as my freelance business back in late 2009...
I was nearing completion of my diploma in advance post production and had a few small jobs on go in the background.
My flatmate and I would spend late evenings "rap battling" each other via Msn messenger....as we lived in a freezing cold dingy flat at the time this was far better than standing in our lounge with frosty breath....it also gave us time to write clever lines back and forth with no time pressure, sounds a bit lame now that I read this back but we had quite a bit of fun finding ways to burn each other via the internet. In any case, we gave each other Msn rap battle alias's during this time - mine ended up being "Snowman" for no real reason..
In any case SnowmanDigital was born.
My passion is video post production - after a couple of pretty average (in terms of emotional feeling) years at Uni I decided it was time to change direction and try and find something I was really passionate about to study and eventually become a career....
I had spent a few days helping out a friend during a short film competition and the atmosphere on set and in the background was addictive. I realized that I had a passion for storytelling - and not only that, being a pretty technically minded person I also found a great love for post-production.
It wasn't long till finished off the year at Uni and enrolled at a well known small college in my city called Natcoll Design Technology. (Now known as Yoobee School of Design)
A couple years on and now I work at Yoobee teaching the programme that I was a student in a few years before... it's extremely rewarding helping students find / foster their passions.
On the side I also continue to work freelance, producing videos, creating motion graphics, editing, visual effects, etc etc - sometimes it's almost like working two full time jobs.
One thing I am really into is giving away things for free - which is why you'll find all of my texture/overlay videos are 100% royalty free (and free for download) on my Youtube channel.
We have recently started hosting some files on Mega so if you are after them send us an email and I'll flick you a link.
Ultimately the goal is to provide a website containing free textures, video elements, tutorials and links to other sites on a similar vibe. I want to contribute to this community openly and provide heaps of content free of charge.
