Humble Choice (February 2024): Snowtopia
Snowtopia is part of February’s Humble Choice. “Build your ideal ski resort. Keep skiers smiling with fresh pistes and fine facilities. Ski, build and chill in the wintry world of Snowtopia where everyone is welcome! “ This is another of those games that I should love. In theory. I had never heard of this game before, but when I saw that it’s part of this month’s Humble Choice, I was happy to…

Snowtopia debuts but support will be coming later
Snowtopia ski resort management port coming later to Steam for Linux, but releases now on Windows PC. Thanks to developer TeaForTwo Games and publisher Goblinz Studio (Legend of Keepers, As Far As The Eye). Which release via Steam Early Access and on GOG. The arrival of the ski resort management game Snowtopia brings a few queries for Linux. While carelessly hitting the slopes is an elusive pipe dream for many this year. However, with all the excitement in the Steam comments, this is not a day one release. Despite an early comment in the thread suggesting "in less than 4 hours". Following with "the ski lifts are open", which is confusing. Later stating that Linux "will arrive later during early access." Since development is using Unity 3D. Those eager to take as dive into the Linux demo can do so via Itch.io. With port coming later during early access. But still this gives players a decent impression of the game. Snowtopia gameplay brings a breath of fresh air as well as some powder. While players build the ski resort of their dreams, from mountain trails to ski lifts. Not to mention the revered patios at the end of the descent. Ski, build and relax: the mountain is calling you.

While offering the genre a whole new approach to resource management. Due to appeal to fans of the genre as well as ski addicts. The dynamic creation tool allows you to easily draw the layout of the different slopes. So players can add the appropriate lifts to the different terrains on the mountain side. Our Favorite Holiday Themed Video Game Music
Christmas is coming! I think this is my favorite time of the year (pun intended!), and I thought to myself, “how can I share Christmas to gamers in a way that they will enjoy?”. One of the staples for this time, especially here in the USA, is Christmas music. Can you imagine December without it? It’s playing in every coffee house, store, restaurant, and office, mine included. Are there video game…

Snowtopia coming to Linux a bit later
Snowtopia resort management is due to release on Linux, Mac and Windows PC in 2020. Thanks to French developer TeaForTwo. It seems the release on Steam Early Access is coming a bit later now. According to publisher Goblinz Studio. Having recently received more details about Snowtopia. It seems the Early Access release for the ski resort management game is coming in Q2 2020. Rather than releasing in Q1 as previously expected. So you will have to hold off designing the best ski facilities. The same also goes for any visitors and the surrounding mountains. As a result of this slight delay. You can certainly still play the games Alpha build. Available for Linux, Mac and Windows PC via Itch.io. Which is also a bit of a tease. Since Steep is available free on the Epic store, but not playable on Linux, sadly.
Snowtopia: alpha announcement trailer
Features
Build and manage your ski resorts.
Trace trails and place lifts.
Unlock a wide variety of skiers.
Design the ski area and allocate the workforce.
Maintain balance within the mountain
Improve facilities and specialize your stations
And more to come!
The idea for the Snowtopia game originated on a chairlift ride. Since the designers figured the time between two skiing trips was far too long. Yes, I know the feeling, but on a snowboard. While the first prototype saw light in March 2018. The demo version features a single sandbox level with general objectives to give a look at the games scope. And rightly so, this sandbox title gives players a chance to share some valuable feedback. Ever since the open alpha first launched via Itch.io. Which is also still active by the way. Therefore expect to design your Snowtopia resort in Q2 2020. There is also no specific release date just yet. Although the game is coming to Linux, Mac and Windows PC. So be sure to Wishlist the game on Steam.
