Handing Out Candy

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!” the kid screamed, running as fast as he could back to his parents, who looked on worriedly.

Lance burst out laughing, as Kolivan simply stared out in hurt confusion.

That was the fourth time in the last hour. The majority of young kids took one look at Kolivan and ran for the hills.

There had been a few that had loved his ‘costume,’ but they were few and far in between.

“Am I doing something wrong?” Kolivan asked softly as he turned towards Lance, not happy that he was being laughed at.

“I-I’m sorry,” Lance said, wheezing. “It’s not you.”

Finally managing to catch his breath, he looked up at the purple giant in front of him.

He could see why the kids ran. A lot of them weren’t exactly ready to process his furry (adorable) self, the yellow eyes (which they had explained away as ‘special contacts’), the scar, the height, pretty much everything about him.

He wasn’t very tall right now though, having sat down against the wall, shoulders slumped.

“Do I look scary to them? Strange?”

“Hey, hey,” Lance hurried to reassure, walking over and putting his hands on said shoulders. “It’s not about you, they’re just too young to see how awesome you are.”

Kolivan tried to smile, but the weak attempt disappeared quickly. “I wanted to try this- this hol-id-ay,” he said, sounding it out slowly. “Especially because you love it so much, and you looked so happy this year-”

“Shhhh, shhhhhh,” Lance said, moving his hands to Kolivan’s cheeks (not being able to resist the urge to pinch them slightly) and placing his forehead against his. “I was happy this year because you were going to be here with me. No other reason.”

Kolivan looked up, accidentally brushing his nose against Lance’s.

“Really?”

“Yes, really.” Lance said, smiling softly.

Moving closer, he nuzzled his nose against Kolivan’s, then hopped up.

“Now c’mon, let’s see if we can make it to six in an hour.” he bounced up and down

Smiling ruefully, Kolivan nodded and got up to head towards the front door, but not before he pulled Lance into a tight hug.

“Thank you,” he whispered.

“Love you Koli.”

*They make it to nine in an hour, and Koli says he loves him too and isn’t sad anymore and it’s a happy ending and yay 😆*

so i liked the tone and mood of this season and how mature and interesting it is becoming, as well as how they set it up for the next season, however I don’t like how fast paced it was. It seemed like they had to cram hundreds of plot points into 6 episodes and I know they did the best they could and it is after all an appropriately-paced kids show, but it’s just hard to really feel for and take in what you’re watching when they focus on a major plot point for like 1 sec and then move on to the action. I’m sad about the piloting situation and I get that they’re trying to show people that Keith wants to move onto an avenue where he is more comfortable and has more freedom to contribute to the war how he sees fit (which, in this situation, is not the best and healthiest decision on his part, and leads to some dangerous decision making) because with being the pilot of the black lion, he feels trapped and unable to do efficiently what he feels needs to be done. He feels if he continues to pilot the black lion, he and their mission will get nowhere because, to him, he’s just not a good leader and the team will be able to do more without him. and HE will be able to do more without THEM. Obviously we know he’s like this because he still has to mature and grow into his leader position. BUUUUt hopefully he will be ready to open up eventually and come into his own with this whole situation. There is still so much character development he needs within the group in order to make things work again, and It seems like his story as a paladin of Voltron is unfinished so I have a feeling he’ll come back. Also that filler episode made me depressed like 1. Keith wasn’t there and 2. fart jokes w hunk and making him fall for laughs,,,,i was not a fan. The one good thing was acrobat Lance and Bii-Boh-Bi. I loved that fucken noodle
