it’s the way they share so much history together. they’ve been irreversibly changed and shaped by their experiences together. but they’re also the exact same. phoenix is emotional at realising she’s a grown adult now because some part of him will always see her as that 17 year old girl he met in the most dire of circumstances

he’s a well renowned defense lawyer and she’s the master of the kurain channelling technique but there’s always gonna be a part of them that are gonna be those kids who were denied access to global studios because a security guard was convinced they couldn’t be real lawyers
