๐๐๐ Happy 33rd Birthday Meta!! ๐๐๐
Thatโs right, yentlemen, the Great EMatooney has decided to create a Kirby AU! I call it the Ballad of Meta Knight: The Impossible Dream, or BOMK for short! It features Meta Knight, obviously, the Meta-Knights, and some very strange new characters! ๐
I wanna give a huge shoutout to @itsquakey because I was really inspired by the way she shades the characters and I wanted to try my hand out on it too! Hope thatโs okay!
Imma be real, I really wasnโt intending to make a Meta Knight AU at all. To be honest, it actually just started out as a joke. Like, you got this big, serious, stoic character all of a sudden giving you the most loving and heartfelt life advice. The kind of softness you wouldnโt expect from a guy like him? That sort of thing. But over time it stopped feeling like just a joke. So, wallah! I made a AU!
This wonโt be a comic series but itโll actually be my first fanfic! Iโm really excited and nervous because I havenโt wrote anything on the internet and I hope people will like it. This AU wonโt take place in the anime continuity. Iโm planning to base it more on the games and light novels, but with my own twists. Though donโt worry โ Iโll still sprinkle in bits of the anime here and there. ;)
The biggest thing I want to address, though, is the inspiration behind this AU. There was a creator who went by Celestia-Knight on Deviantart (Iโm pretty sure they go by @time-eatingnoodle now?) who wrote some of the most captivating and emotionally charged Kirby fan stories Iโve ever read. Their artwork was breathtaking, and the lore they built was so mysterious. I really really loved their portrayal of Meta Knight.
But they made the decision to stop creating Kirby content. And they erased everything. They erased their art. They stopped working on their stories. Everything just stopped. Iโll never know how their story ended. Iโll never know if Kirby defeated Zero, if Galacta regained his former self, or if Meta Knight ever found peace. But I hope โ I sincerely hope โ that in some small way, I can carry on their legacy for a while.
Just like Meta, I want these stories to live on. I want to carry pieces of that inspiration with me and weave them into my own work. Thatโs how deeply their stories resonated with me. And I hope mine will resonate with you, too.
Iโm not sure if I should post it on AO3 or fanfiction.net. Any suggestions? Never done this before so Iโd appreciate the help! Iโll let you guys know when I add a new chapter.
