what do you see in that little freak (infection E)
It's.... complicated....
On one hand he did take me hostage and forced me to research the infection- planning to twist it into something far worse than it already is. He's intimidated, terrifying, and all around vile.
But on the other hand... he’s the reason I’m still alive. Even with the others pushing him to get rid of me, he’s protected me. He values my work—maybe even me— and that means he’s not as far gone as he thinks, even with all the infection has done to him...
Format is name of who's team it is, the team in question, and then facts about why they have those team members if there is a reason other than vibes, then possibly some extra lore if there is some. Also long post.
Scott
-He caught the malamar when it was mega and was very disappointed that it didn't stay that way. His key stone is on his broach.
-his first Pokémon was jangmo-o, which was given to him by his parents when he turned 10. It was almost a lap dog for most of his youth, but when it evolved and started seeking out fights he found his love for the adrenaline of battling. Kommo-o scales were used for armour, he sees no reason to go the extra step.
-he swears he has six Pokémon up and down. But he only ever has five pokeballs. There's a dead tree in the courtyard of his castle that he gets uncharacteristically protective over. When Martyn tried burning it he threw the man off the bridge. (Yep. Xerneas.)
-fezendipiti. Haha, past life referance. No but fr I think he found it after Ogrepon left it to die and healed it up. He admires it for its beauty, much alike to his. Always taken, never fought for. It perches on the dead tree in his court. He uses that fact to excuse his obsession with the plant.
-hatterene sticks around Scott to find a sense of peace. It gets temperamental when near strong emotions, and Scott has close to none. It acts like a detector of sorts, constantly on the lookout for a spike in emotion that indicates another person is around.
-cofagrigus haunted the crypts far before Scott did. It used to interrupt burial rituals until Scott needed a ghost type to deal with some problems up in the castle. A witch used the power of her Pokémon to poison its mind so it would trap Scott inside it instead of one of his victims. Vampires aren't affected by the musings of ghost types, so all it was was a long vacation from the surface. Scott can go on for hours about how violating it was for it, being forced to hurt its trainer in such a way.
-Scott's Pokémon had a spell placed on them that tied their lifespans to their trainer's. Most vampires do this. Once the trainer dies, the Pokémon continue their lifespans like they would've before the spell was cast.
-while Scott was trapped, Kommo-o and fezendipiti hunted for him. A lot of the meat rotted before it could be used. They encounter some other Pokémon hunting meat often, but scare them off easily.
Owen
-He had a magikarp thrown at him when he was young. The ones who threw it chided about how it was just as useless as him. He threw it back into the water but it followed him along the river and kept jumping out at him until he caught it. Now that it's evolved it hasn't grown out of that habit. It's quite hilarious to watch a 40 foot long snake tackle the vampire.
-lampent has been following him since he was a kid. It was the first thing to change since he got diagnosed with a deadly skin condition. It let him catch it when he was about ten, when he dropped an ax on his foot and was bedridden for weeks.
-he found a shuppet in an alley when he was rummaging through the trash of the tavern. It seemed so lonely and sad, he couldn't just leave it. It evolved and now it's just another thing that keeps the town from interacting with Owen due to its temperament. It especially hates the daughter of the fisher for some reason.
-zorua was beaten badly by the town when its pack moved in nearby. It was one of the only survivors. It took a long time for it to let Owen close enough to wrap its wounds. When a townsmember hurts Owen, even just by kicking some dirt in his eyes, it flares its flames in defense of him. When Owen woke up to a Zoaroark holding a dead pig for him, he was pleasantly surprised.
-he spent a very long time looking for something. Louis had been so kind to him, he wanted to do something good too. He'd heard of rare Pokémon that looked different than others of its species, so when he found one of those "shinies" in a species that needed to be gifted in order to gain strength, it seemed like fate. He was brimming with excitement all the days he told the Phantump about louis and how he would give it to him after he was turned so the three of them could be happy. Now that future will never come to pass. It keeps watch over him while he sleeps.
-Zoaroark and banette hunt for Owen while they wait for him to wake up, but there's a Kommo-o and fezendipiti that steals most of their kills. Gyarados is able to ambush things as they drink at the river though.
-louis loved zorua from the moment he met it. Owen was concerned about bringing his team when he met Louis for the longest time. He couldn't stop lampent from following him which freaked Louis out the slightest bit, more due to the following people doomed to die thing, but the first pokemon he actually brought to meet Louis was zorua. It evolved during Owen's massacre, using it's flames to shield itself as it pulled Louis off the pyre.
-the last thing Louis did before he turned Owen was cast the spell to tie his life to his Pokémon lives, then putting them away safe in a storage unit next to the coffin he laid Owen in. It was the final thing that convinced Owen this was real, that Louis wasn't lying and actually wanted this.
Abolish
-aegislash was Morcant's Pokémon before he gave it to Abolish. It sees its purpose as a protector of the kid and takes its job very seriously. Sometimes it goes a bit too far, stalking people that annoy Abolish until he gives up and puts it in its ball until it chills out.
-decidueye has been trained to hunt bats as its main food source. Every agent in the organization gets one as a Rowlett and their first assignment is to train it up into a decidueye.
-Incineroar was feral when Abolish caught it. He was tasked with hunting down an especially violent vampire, but when he got there a terrocat was burning down the vampire's entire fort. Apparently as a litten the vampire had killed it's family, and now it distrusts most of the species. They're working on it.
-Dreepy didn't do much. It was the child of the veylocke's dragapult, who died with its trainers. It hid whenever it could and it took longer than it took Abolish to come back out. It still only eats if Abolish is the one feeding it, and it really only travels with him because no one would be able to handle it without him, it hasn't been trained to hunt monsters, just to take care of Pokémon when they get hurt. No one would say it out loud, but the thing it comforts most often is Abolish, on the nights where their shared demons haunt his dreams. (Hehe, therapy ghost dragon)
-linoone was Abolish's first Pokémon. After his parents died, he wouldn't talk much, would barely eat, would help dreepy get into the hardest positions to get it out of, and would barricade his room and scream and kick whenever something triggered him. Then one time when he ran away from the manor during an episode, he was found in the woods by a zigzagoon. It calmed him down and cuddled up to him until Morcant was able to track them down. Neither of them care if it evolves into an obstagoon, so they haven't bothered yet.
-Abolish has five Pokémon, but a sixth follows him around no matter what. Usually it's just a blob that appears out of some recess of his clothing when even he doesn't expect it, but when he or it gets threatened it grows and morphs into the shape of a dog and exhibits immense power. It doesn't want to be caught and he respects that, it leaves on its own adventures often, but always returns eventually.
-abolish genuinely doesn't know that he has what most would consider a champion level team. He just likes his Pokémon and has a connection to most of them. He also doesn't know that Zygarde is legendary, he just sees a blob and rolls with it.
-abolish is secretly terrified that if linoon evolves its personality will change and it'll end up hating him for not keeping up with its increased energy. And linoon can tell he hates the idea, so it tries its hardest to keep the evolution at bay.
Legundo
-Blissey was in the war hospital where Legs got treatment for his eye. When it retired from the war occupation, he ended up asking for it to be traded to him. It helps take care of the urt Pokémon in places Legs visits, which leaves Legs to care for the humans.
-Gardevoir helps Legs with surgeries. A mix of its expertise in hypnotic, it's calming nature, and it's psychic powers giving it precision, it's one of the best partners for Legs to use with harder treatments. It served a darker purpose before he went full medical, however. Helping assist another Pokémon Legs let loose a long time ago.
-unfeazent used to help send messages across the battlefield, injuring its wing once during it. It can't fly longer distances anymore, but it goes for supplies and brings distress telegrams for Legs when he's in the wilderness now.
-Anything can be explained. Ghosts included. Once Legs got stranded in a small town during a blizzard, and in his boredom he decided to prove that fact to the whole town. There was a "haunted house" just outside of the walls, so he took gardevoir and a bagful of pokeballs and hunted for haunter. It likes playing tricks, but it understands that during medical things there needs to be a level of seriousness.
-Houndoom shouldn't still be here. Legs released two Pokémon after the war, not thinking he could stand to face them and treat them with kindness after all that they'd done together. Houndoom was one of them, but it refused to give up on him even when he had given up on himself. It followed him across the wilderness for years, defeating trainers that tried to catch it and keeping its mega stone with it the entire time. Legs tried ignoring it, then tried escaping it, but it kept finding him. It fell into a ditch due to its growing age while running to catch up to him, and he finally picked it up and took it with him. It lost one of its horns and has a permanent limp now, but they've never let each other get far since. Legs got his key stone put into his eye, but has sworn off mega evolving due to the stress it could put on houndooms' already ragged body.
-wow there's a lot of lore on houndoom.
-Legs actually finds haunter's antics hilarious, and often let's them slide with more leaniance than he should. It targets Cyyrus the most, since Legs never really seems to be looking when it scares them in particular. Same thing with Scott, but it can never catch Scott off guard.
-Legs used to have a Dragalgea, back when he was in the army. He released it with Houndoom, but it understood the reason better than houndoom did. Or worse, depending on how you see it. Legs doesn't know what happened to it, but he hopes it's doing well, at least. He just can't trust himself to treat it with the care it deserves anymore. Not after... well...
Okay, this is getting way too long. Part one? Part one.
