you probably already know quite a lot about what i think of ravio due to my many posts analysing him and his role in the story, especially in contrast and connection to other people, but i will also extrapolate and explain here too because i loooove him.
hes contradictory in a story where you expect one or the other. he runs because hes scared but also because he has a plan. he hides because hes a liar but also because thats what he's been taught keeps him safe. every part of him is another angle of himself he enjoys and hates in equal measure. hes whimsical, hes bogged down with a weight he doesnt know how to carry, he is not lorule's hero but he loves it so much he saves it anyway. he understands people and sees within them his best self, yet is almost entirely self defined by his worst impulses. i dont really think he knows who he is - only able to see one small piece at any one time. merchant, servant, coward, hero. he talks about a new outlook on life at the end of the game, and i fear he's just adding to his own growing pile of 'what the world wants you to be'. and he simultaneously embraces every single one, and wholly and entirely fails it all.
what the fuck. why is he like this. i love him
(also he has ocd and is nonbinary and a bisexual disaster and a bit of a freak yup yup)
Ravio will view himself as one characteristic and slate at a time, a selfish thing, but one to keep himself safe. The world he loves is what drives him into acting in all his selfishness and love..
