1 Year Ago Today........
While in the midst of doing absolutely nothing all day (yay Hurricane Ida shutting down everything on campus and in town on my 21st birthday), I remembered that 1 year ago today was the official engagement announcement of the then Crown Prince Richard and Lady Elissa Wilkes, the youngest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Wilkes. Warning: Bad photo and poor lighting
Since then, they have welcomed six children: Crown Princess Anastasia, Prince Michael, Princess Sophie, Prince Charles, Prince Robert and Prince Benjamin and have become King and Queen themselves. Yes, they are going through a rough patch, but they’re starting to work their way out of it and on October 2nd you know that I’m getting a cake to celebrate their one year.
I have no idea how they made it this far, but they did!
Y’all out here thinking Here Today is the most gut-wrenching song Paul wrote after John’s death, but everybody sleeping on The Pound Is Sinking. You listen to the way Paul screams the line, “No it didn’t happen!” achingly followed by “Only for a minute. Your heart just wasn’t in it anymore,” and try to convince me he wasn’t talking about John. Newsflash: HE WAS.
I’ve never heard a sound more heartbreaking than Paul McCartney scream-singing the words “No it didn’t happen!” Every time I listen to the song I have to mentally prepare myself for that line.
Ah yes...that time I unknowingly went to thepiratebay.org and unknowingly typed in “photoshop cs5”...

"BE MINE."
High School!Winroe:
There wasn’t much to Casey, Illinois. Their lives had been full of dreams: how they were going to get out some day, where they would move, whose name would make it into a magazine first. They spent hours upon hours complaining about the population, how far they had to travel to see a movie, how absurd it was that there was a horse tie-off at the local grocery store. They hated it, but...Cooper thought that maybe there was more to Casey than just corn fields and horses.
It was late winter, and Cooper had taken great care in wrapping Sam’s scarf over her smiling face before they set out to their spot by the willow. It was stupid, it was far too cold to be stargazing. But the sky was clear, and Cooper wanted one night. Just one, before their last semester began, and life whirled them away to God knows where. They lay still on a blanket, two draped over the both of them. Sam was bundled in as many layers as she could manage, and Cooper had the blanket pulled up to his chin.
“Be mine.” Sam broke the silence for the first time since they’d laid down nearly an hour ago. Cooper pulled his eyes away from the stars to find that she was looking at him. How long had she been watching? Her voice had been muffled beneath the scarf, and Cooper thought it was the cutest thing he’d ever heard. He wanted to commit the moment to memory, burn it into his subconscious, and hold onto it until the stars fell from the sky. Her eyes were bright, golden in the dim light from the fire. Her nose was red with cold, but she looked so happy.
“Forever.” He finally responded, and he’d never been more sure of anything. He reached over and pulled the scarf up over her nose, lingering to brush lightly over her cheek. “I love you, Samantha.”
"Hey baby, wanna sit on my lap an' we'll talk 'bout the first thing that pops up?"
"Alright! That sounds alright."
