new theme//current state of the union.

I changed my blog theme after 4 or 5 years! here’s what’s going on, since I’ve been terrible at checking in and writing text posts.

~i’ll begin my second senior year of college in the fall. realizing that i will have to go to school for an extra year has been difficult to grasp when all of my friends have graduated.

~i recently quit my beloved job of managing my college’s radio station. it was one of the most difficult decisions that i’ve ever had to make. i’m still going to be a deejay, though! i could never give it up completely. when you fail math for the second time, ya just have to make sacrifices. 

~i got a library card for the first time since age 12. 

~i’ll be 23 in two months.

~i saw The Rolling Stones live last year. I can’t remember if i posted about it!

~i’m still reading Elvis Costello’s autobiography, and I’m making my way through “Trouble Boys.” THAT INTRODUCTION, AM I RIGHT?

Introductory Post! (I wish the title wasn't so lame)

Well hey.

I don't know where this blog will go exactly, but I'd like to think of it as my *love letter* to music. As it's looking right now I'm going to highlight a certain song/artist/album which has had an impact on me throughout the years. I don't intend to limit genre or embarrassment factor either, so I'm sure I'll end up writing about The Rolling Stones' Eighties catalog and why I looooove it! Also I want to talk a bit about my job as a music director for my college's radio station, and the tunes I discover through CMJ (the College Music Journal). Those types of posts will come earlier in the week; I'm thinking of calling that feature NEW MUZIK TUESDAYS (WHEEE).

Misc things to know about me: My primary blog is socentralrain.tumblr.com, which has been my love letter to popular culture over the last four years! If you've come across this blog from that one, a lot of this blog's content may not be a surprise to you. :) 

I'm calling this blog "Queen Elvis Musings" because my deejay name at the station is Queen Elvis. I was listening to a lot of Robyn Hitchcock during my freshman year of college, so Queen Elvis stuck when it came time to pick a deejay name!

I like to tell stories and I'm very detail oriented with them. If you aren't a fan of music drivel of that sort, then this blog might not be your cup of coffee. If you've seen that episode of "How I Met Your Mother" where Robin goes into therapy and she can't seem to finish the story, and her therapist gets pissed- that's me and my storytelling. Music does that to me. It makes communication easier and it's my go-to "tool" (I typed toot first-HAHA) to get to know someone.

I've got a ton of ideas for my first *real* post but I'm not done narrowing them down. So follow this and watch this space for some musings! </cheese>

2. I want to thank socentralrain.tumblr.com for posting so many pictures from "Moonstruck" today because I friggin' love that movie.

3. Why is everyone posting gifs from "The Hunger Games" today? Not complaining, but it's kinda random. 

4. I feel like my blog is eventually just going to be pictures of Paris and Doctor Who. So I apologize in advance for that.
