CARE TIPS FOR YOUR PET ROBLOXIAN!

PART ONE - SOCIAL NEEDS

Robloxians are very social creatures and will actively seek out other robloxians, people, and other pets. It is important to have more than one robloxian when keeping them domestically; as in the wild, they are pack-based creatures. The image below is a good example of social activity for a robloxian.

The image above is NOT good for a robloxians' social health, as they are lonely and isolated. It is not recommended to isolate a robloxian unless they have a contagious sickness that could hurt the rest of their cagemates. (Please refer to the guide on robloxian sicknesses and conditions for more information on what to watch out for.)

Many professionals recommend at the very least 2 robloxians in an area, though at least 4 is the average number that 100% meets the social needs of a robloxian.

I just read someone say "you shouldn't like or love someone for the comfort they provide to you, find comfort in yourself."

Actually, this is a fundamental misunderstanding of how social attachment and attachment needs work. We are wired to build affection and attachment towards someone who provides what we need. That's a survival instinct. This person signals social safety, which is fundamental to our survival. Yes even now, not just in an evolutionary context. That's the entire point of building social bonds. You could as well tell someone not to be human.

Also, finding comfort in others OR yourself is a false binary. The two are tied together. Growing up, being provided with what you need by others gives you the safe base to explore and grow as a person, learn to regulate yourself on your own, build autonomy and self efficacy, which in turn enables you to feel safe and comforted in yourself.

That doesn't mean, ignore pitfalls. If you are with someone just for what they provide you with, even though you don't like then or don't feel a connection above that, it will probably not end well. If you take without giving back, it will probably not end well. If you depend on others because you don't trust yourself to care for yourself, it will probably not end well. If you pick one partner after the other only for what they provide to avoid learning to care for yourself in any capacity, that is not healthy either.

But don't buy this shit that it's not okay to attach to someone because they are a comfort for you. That's insane. And I keep reading these takes on tumblr dot com.

A vital question is how much, and what kinds of, positive social interaction is sufficient to fulfil our social needs and thus eliminate the neural craving response. Technological advances offer incessant opportunities to be virtually connected with others, despite physical separations. Yet, some have argued that using social media only exacerbates subjective feelings of isolation. The potential for virtual interactions to fulfil social needs is particularly relevant when large populations are required to self-isolate, for example during a global pandemic. This unprecedented upheaval in people's social routines emphasized the need for a better understanding of human social needs and the neural mechanisms underlying social motivation.

Maybe it’s just me, but

I don’t think people actually understand introversion vs extroversion. 

“Oh, I’m such an introvert! I’m super quiet until you get to know me, but then I never stop talking!” No, you’re probably an extrovert. Introversion and extroversion don’t determine how much you talk or how you socialize. They have to do with how draining or energizing you find social activities.

For example, I work with a consummate extrovert. He is never happy unless he has someone to talk to. He’s always getting in trouble for spending time with friends at work - and if none of his friends are working, he’ll make a new friend. He just loves being social and is unhappy spending time by himself. He finds time alone to be exhausting.

In contrast, I am thoroughly an introvert. I live with roommates and I love all of them dearly. They’re some of my favorite people, but if I can’t get an hour or two of time alone in a day, I’m mentally and emotionally exhausted. I love being around them and I want to be around them, but I find their company draining. Granted, they’re less draining than some other people, but that’s how you tell if you’re an introvert or an extrovert.

Anyway, why does this matter? I think people mis-categorize themselves and get frustrated when they don’t understand their social needs. Plus, we just went through a situation that should tell you everything you need to know! If COVID-19 self-quarantine and shutdown were terrible for you, there’s a good chance you’re an extrovert. If you kind of wish we could go back to that, I - a fellow introvert - deeply understand.

Perhaps it was the free Wi-Fi, or the heat emanating from the radiator nearby, or the coffee I had smuggled in, but I felt at home.”

I’m on my 5th day off work with a fucked ankle.  I work with people and just talking to my dad and boyfriend is really taking it’s toll on my social needs.  I’ve had a lot of time with my own thoughts and i don’t like it. I’ve got more wrong with me now than I did at the start of the week.

I think my brain is bad at the concept that I can have lack in social needs, when I have and am doing a bunch of social stuff (which I am glad and grateful for!)

But - that doesn’t make sense, does it, if I think about it? If I had a craving for some foods, and a maybe vitamin deficiency, it wouldn’t be right or correct to be like ‘but I have and am eating lots of food! tasty food even!’
