idk I just think it's a problem that every single disabled or chronically ill person I know has like. medical specialist levels of knowledge about their condition bc they've had to fight to be diagnosed & learn to manage symptoms with little to no assistance
like. there's a difference between choosing to learn about something, or learning about something to supplement info given by a doctor, or joining communities and learning ways other ppl with your condition have managed symptoms, bc not every doctor is an expert in every field. that's impossible.
and being forced to learn medical jargon, underlying symptoms, commonly confused diagnoses, different treatment options, side-effects, long-term prognoses, possibly complications, etc unassisted bc the medical system is so immensely fucked that chronically ill and disabled people basically end up managing shit. entirely on our own.
