I saw a post talking about how they believe that Ilya is aware that he’s falling in love,

Which i agree with and to go even further with it I honestly believe that they are both kind of aware of it for a long time; which is why they dance around each other in ways that are hurtful to each other

Like because of homophobia (especially in Russia for ilya)they both know that it’s not allowed, but they are so obsessed with each that they have to self police until ilya slips up and sends Shane on his /rose landry gay realization saga/

Like it’s even noticeable in their interaction at the sochi olympics where ilya has to reinforce what had largely been unspoken boundary about them engaging with each other outside of hook-ups
